Landican Air Disaster - Merseyside's forgotten tragedy
« on: October 18, 2019, 05:01:39 pm »
75 years ago today, on 18 October 1944, Merseyside saw its worst ever air disaster. 24 US airmen were killed when their Liberator aircraft exploded in flight over the fields of Landican, near Birkenhead. We will remember them.

Never knew of this, thanks for posting it.

I know they had an air crash in Speke in the 60s, the aircraft came down on the Mothaks factory which was on the perimeter of the airport. The aircrew and two women in the factory were killed, but shortly before it happened the entire workforce of the factory had just clocked off.
