That's sad news. What a career he had - always tend to think of him as one of those players who represented 'different' Liverpool teams in the late 70s & early 80s, rather than belonging to just one or the other. Seemed to remain held in high regard by Arsenal supporters too.

We’ve lost so many legends in the last year or so.

Slightly before my time but I’ve seen all the videos and obviously the magical St Etienne goal. One of the all time greats for us. RIP Ray.

It's unreal, the amount of legends passing.
Loved Ray, great player who battled health issues for many years. In fact I'm pretty sure he mentioned having early signs of Parkinsons while still playing.
RIP Ray and thanks for the memories.

Gutted. Another giant from my childhood lost.
Ray was such a stylish player and the left side of possibly our greatest midfield.
That goal in Munich in 81 will never be forgotten and no-one is more associated with our number 5 shirt than Ray.

Ah man. That’s sad, absolute LFC legend. I know we know how great he was but still feels like an under appreciated gem of a player. Just slightly before my time but he was the player I enjoyed most when I used to watch old videos of us when I was young.

RIP Ray

RIP Ray. Not many are legends at clubs the size of Liverpool and Arsenal. He probably has one of the best careers an English player has ever had, actually. Gutted to see another legend pass away and I hope for a good tribute in the next home game. YNWA.

Ah no. One of my favourite players of all time. If my memory is correct, Ray played as a number 10 for Arsenal and was a superb player. He then came to us and surprisingly played in midfield but what a transformation that was. He glided around the pitch spraying the ball about and seeing passes others couldn’t.

I have little doubt that he would start in our current team…….he was that good.

He was a class act and so sad that he has gone.

What a player he was. So sad he's gone.

All sorts of memories of him throughout the mid-late '70's, but his goal at Molineux was the icing on the cake for me considering the occasion and the one and only time I ran on to a pitch three times in the same game ;D

Very sad.
One of my favourite Liverpool players ever.
I remember the goal against Bayern mentioned earlier, but also a superb goal I think against Bristol City, what a goal.
Jimmy Greaves said he was the best English player of the 70s, for what he did as a striker at Arsenal, and then as a left-sided midfielder at Liverpool. I agree with that, not many players change so successfully.
And he was unknowingly ill all the time.

Others will put up more I'm sure but this is a nice start I think.

RIP Ray, lot of great memories you gave.

No one seems to have ever had a bad word about him - and in football that says a lot
