UKBOB, RAOTL Forum

Oh what a sad day for the "true" red supporters. This is what I hate about the game today...no loyalty to tradition and heritage. You cannot take those Anfield memories with you, they will be buried in the rubble when the bulldozers move in.
Although not a Liverpool supporter as such I have many fond memories of Anfield. The history of Liverpool FC is etched in every single part of that ground. I have visited many grounds and you can "feel" the club and its supporters if you love the game. Whenever I went to Anfield the "feeling" surrounded you, it was like a shrine, which in many cases it is. In all the times I visited Anfield as a United supporter not once did I ever feel threatened, the humour, knowledge and appreciation of the game was second to none.
It will be gone but not forgotten, it will be sadly missed.

UKbob is brilliant.

Thanks for posting that, L27 -  I would have missed it otherwise. I am going to take the liberty of copying and pasting what ukbob says and putting it in one of the threads on the Official Forum.

Nice post but i've got to disagree.

UK Bob said,

"You cannot take those Anfield memories with you, they will be buried in the rubble when the bulldozers move in. "

Utter shite.

The ground doesn't remember nothing its the people who go there. I remember the standing kop, my first game, King Kennys smile, Bobs last game, lifting the title, great goals, great players, friends made and friends lost at Hillsborough. I think you get the idea.

These memories i will hold dear for the rest of my days and nothing can take them away.
There's a wooly over there.....;-)

I'm with you Neil .... Anfield has changed out of all recognition since I started watching nearly 50 years ago.

It doesn't stop me have great memories - even of games we've lost!
I said to my mate in the pub, "your round" ..... He said, "so are you, ya fat git!"

Also with you Neil... anyone who isn't capable of taking those glorious memories with them is cerebrally challenged.  It's the people that make the atmosphere, the noise and create the sheer feel of a place... so we've all got a job to do in 2005/6.
Football is a simple game based on the giving and taking of passes, of controlling the ball and of making yourself available to receive a pass. It is terribly simple - Bill Shankly.

Shame we can't create a noise now?

Anfield for ever.
