Triggered by bloody Zeb I guess.  ::)

Don't blame me if you're starting Christmas before it's even September!
That song always reminds me more of how talented Kirsty MacColl was though.

Want to give Scanner there a listen - had a quick sample and got vibes of Spooky's Found Sound experiments for some reason from the first track.

Carla Bozulich - Quieter

https://carlabozulich.bandcamp.com/album/quieter

Quote
Carla Bozulich is diversely experimental, uncompromising and continues to be ceaselessly devoted to mixing art-punk ethics and creativity. Here, with Quieter, is an intensely emotive, intuitive, enchantingly cohesive collection of previously orphaned and one-off tracks where, uncharacteristically, nothing ever quite screams. Carla’s way with a fleshy edge remains sharp as ever. A couple of these are left over from the bountifully productive sessions from her brilliant and widely-acclaimed 2014 album Boy; others featuring collaborations with the likes of Marc Ribot, Sarah Lipstate (Noveller), Freddy Ruppert, Shahzad Ismaily and more.

Quieter is the result of this ceaselessly nomadic and defiantly DIY iconoclast having settled back in Los Angeles for a spell, recovering from tour-inflicted ear damage, sifting through unreleased/unfinished material, and finding herself drawn to working on the quieter stuff (relatively speaking) in her abundant archives. Ranging from the searching, searing opener "Let It Roll" - "the most honest work I've ever done" says Carla - to the chiming, deconstructed lullabies of "Glass House" (composed by Ruppert) and "Sha Sha" (from her mid-2000s project The Night Porter) and the album's sultry closing track "End Of The World"(a duet with Marc Ribot, who penned the song), Quieter is a brilliant addition to Bozulich's impressively diverse, adventurous, and unwaveringly authentic body of work.

Oxbow - King of the Jews

Quote
Their long out of print sophomore release, available now in all its remastered and repackaged glory...and arguable even truer to the beast Oxbow had in mind when they recorded it two decades ago. 'King of the Jews' marks the second in Hydra Head's lovingly currated Oxbow catalog reissue campaign. Includes several recently uncovered (and lovingly mastered!) bonus tracks from the album's original source tapes.

Quote
An incredible debut from Scotland's musical survivors.'
Scottish Daily Record

'Jacob's Ladder must surely be a contender for Scottish Album of the Year or the bloomin’ Mercury even'
Is This Music?

'It’s claustrophobic, and menacing with nary a glisten of sunlight, but it’s all the more compelling and captivating for that.'
jockrock

'A vivid and visceral exploration of Edinburgh's underbelly that recalls Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds at their most intense.'

Beach Skull - Las Dunas

https://blakhandrecords.bandcamp.com/album/las-dunas

Quote
Liverpool/Manchester trio Beach Skulls are back with their second album Las Dunas, the follow-up to the acclaimed debut album Slow Grind from 2016 which brought the band the attention of the likes of The Line of Best Fit, Clash, GoldFlakePaint and Under the Radar. Summery garage pop mixed with psych and dream pop influences, Las Dunas finds Beach Skulls refining and expanding their sonic palette, coupled with their strongest set of tracks yet.

Similar in the sense of English oddballs who can compose, play and sing about everyday things. The similarity ends there really - Thakray is more cheerful wimsy, Dawson a bit more serious with a touch of melancholy.

For Thakray see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfHsPqN2woA
