Yeah should be ok for quali tomorrow but heavy rain expected on the Sunday before the race.

A wet race on a track where there hasn't been any practice, with cars that are harder to handle, and some rookie drivers.

Should be fun

wonder will it be postponed?

If there is poor visibility that prevents a helicopter ambulance from taking off and landing like today then they will have no choice but to postpone or cancel the race.

If it is anything like Brazil a couple of months ago then it could turn into a farce. There was a simple way around that kind of problem at the time where it was too wet to run a race but the safety car was too slow to guide the cars around  the track in order to build up a dryer racing line. They should have run the race under a virtual safety car. Cars run to a set speed that can clear water but still stay slow enough to be safe.

But the rain is due to ease off before the race. Will come down to the drainage around the track. It's a Hermann Tilke track so it's a much more modern track so hopefully it should be a fun race. No greater equaliser in F1 than rain. Especially on a drying track. The gamble on full wets, inters and slicks is always facinating

i think what could have been one reason why brazil 2003 was chaotic was there was some rule they tried to bring in that year where teams had choice of either bringing wet or inters

all chose inters. wets were clearly needed

im sure that happened anyway

Good stuff, that'll do again! less than two tenths off the fastest car on the grid. Seems bottas just can't bridge that difference to get close enough to his team mate.

Imagine it'll be similar to Australia, ferrari much the better in race trim compared to quali historically.

One thousandth of a second between Bottas and Vettle....

Getting Bottas on the front row would really help Mercedes in the race...

The first corner will be crucial for the front three.
Will be interesting to see if Mercedes can undercut the Ferraris, and keep the lead, if Vettel gets ahead early on.

The undercut only works if there's a gap to come out into though. No point stopping earlier to come out into the midfield battle.

Ferrari were half a second slower in qualifying in Australia yet had the better of Mercedes in the race, today's qualifying the gap was only 0.2 seconds so that suggests Ferrari have the edge, but Hamilton has always been good in the rain where as Vettel is pretty average in the rain so it has all the ingredients for an excellent race tomorrow. I can't wait!

Yep! Hamilton looks to have done very well out of the early chaos, Vettel's gamble hasn't paid off though.

If you can't overtake down that straight with drs it doesn't bode well for the future. Saying that though as Brundle also said your gonna get more gutsy overtaking moves elsewhere

It a tough one, too early in the season for team orders but at the same time those laps with Kimi holding up Vettel have cost Ferrari any chance to winning the race.

Ferrari have screwed him there, think he'd have overhauled the Red Bulls if they'd pitted him a few laps earlier.

Flawless from Lewis, nice.  It's going to be a good year hopefully.

Pole position and led every lap of the race, perfect weekend for him. Level on points with Vettel now, sets the season up very nicely indeed.
