You probably face some sort of punishment if you leave too many behind. Szoboszlai has barely played in the EL at all and I don't expect him to tomorrow so he hasn't been overplayed.

That's the same for the ones who have been left behind too, though.  Why bring him but leave Trent, Virgil, etc?

Bringing and potentially playing both our relatively injury prone centre back and our primary centre/left/right back cover will surely be worth the risk!

Someone said it earlier, but counterintuitively VVD might even be better to play given his injury record - plus he's our captain, and he won't have netherlands responsibilities for a while

The only player I'm surprised has travelled is Szoboszlai. Only Salah has racked up more minutes and he also plays pretty much every minute for his country. Would have been nice to let him put his feet up and get an early night instead have travelling.

There are only so many under 21s etc you can choose to play who are eligible, plus are some not already playing their youth team on the same day?

I wonder if there's a few who'll play tonight who they might be eyeing loans for in January. I know we like to keep some around the first team/u21 set up but I'm sure there's valuable minutes waiting for some like McConnell, who I imagine won't get much of a look in during the 2nd half of the season given he's only made a couple of sub appearances for the first team. Kaide Gordon too maybe, who's not played much football for 18 months or so, it'd do him a world of good to go and play some football.
