By any chance do you shots from outside the box as percentage of total shots? Quick maths says Shaqiri is 60% - which you can understand makes people think that's all he can do. That's pretty consistent for him too - his Bundesliga average was 57% over three seasons - although in Pep's first season he got it down to about 41% which suggests it can be coached out of him.
He isn't really an in-the-box sort of player for Stoke. But that isn't a problem as long as you have players who are dangerous that are. Keita, Firmino, Salah, Mane and even Gini are all players who are very efficient in the box. So he will be the one on the supporting the attack role on the outside.
He completes passes into the box at an elite level (top 5% in data set) and has high numbers in terms of Throughballs & Chances Created too. All this from a player who is getting on the ball 40% less at Stoke compared to those who play in the wide forward positions do here - and I suspect the amount of final third touches are lower still at Stoke.
One thing that is consistent with Coutinho, Mane, Firmino & Salah is they get into better goal scoring positions under Klopp. With his shooting technique, power, accuracy and the very low number of shots that are blocked/missed for someone who is mostly shooting from distance - if he ends up getting in the box more and shooting closer to goal, his numbers could rise sharply. I doubt there are many with his average shot distance that have a better SoT ratio.
