It's this way with Liverpool at the moment: don't slag off any players. If you do, you'll be eating them words next week  ;)

I am a godsend, I changed my shirt about a minute before Mellor scored, with the hope that it will bring some luck our way and what do ya know, we scored. This is the second time this has happened, also happened for the fluham game. How good am I  ;D

The good thing for Mellor is that it's his first ever goal against a top flight team. Boro's defence was fairly full-strength, although the keeper was the reserve.

He needs to do it in the league now, when he gets the chance.

If that's genuinely the case:

"The entire team is useless, no-one can string a pass together, the shooting's bad by schoolboy standards, the defending looks like San Marino and the ball control's about as good as an Essex Chav's"

It'd be nice if this gives him a boost.  Maybe he'll keep his scoring boots on for this weekend because with Baros not 100% and Pongolle pulling up this game, chances are Mellor is going to see some action this weekend.

Great news for the lad. He's earned himself a start against Palace, it seems.

Palace played 11 reserves tonight, to save themselves for our game.

Looks like everything Benitez touches turns to gold right now! (turning water to rioja, as someone put it in a post a couple of weeks back).

But above all, this team of youths beat a Boro side with people like Zenden, Viduka, Job, Riggott, Queudrue and Downing!!!
