What a finish in the women's 4x400m relay! Great way to end the athletics programme.

That was brilliant! Thought Canada had it there.
We have to change from doubter to believer. Now.

Brilliant result for Northern Ireland in the boxing.......top of the medal table in the sport (well England won more medals but NI had more golds).

I think that's 18 medals in total for Team NI with half of them going to women which is brilliant.

It will piss off the DUP as well, which is always great.

Why would it piss off the DUP and how is that relevant to anything? Why bring bloody politics into everything? Let's just celebrate the hard work of the individuals involved and leave the politics in the gutter where it belongs please.

Confirmed DQ after no appeal. Scotland get the bronze!

The first change over both women stepped into the lane next to them, so hard to argue. Really sloppy to mess up a change in the 4x400 I feel, looks like it was just nerves taking over.

Not too much left for today, badminton, diving, squash, hockey and table tennis. Didn't think I'd be that bothered when this started, but seeing big crowds and good atmosphere can suck you into any sport (apart from swimming). Enjoyed most of what I have seen.

I think they'd be a little disappointed to not be in the Gold Medal match, but really, they need to become much (much) better at penalty corners - as the key match was the match vs India in the group stage, which was a draw - scored none of their 3 Penalty Corners (2 of which were when India were a player down), whereas India scored 2 of their 4 - which gave them a draw.  We also lost the SF vs Aus on PCs - we were awarded 14 (FOURTEEN!) and scored none, they only got 3 but scored 1 of them, and won 3-2.

In the other group matches, we only scored 9 out of the 40 PCs we were awarded (so a % of 22.5%), and conceeded on 3 of the 10 PCs we faced (so a % of 30%) - or a GD of 6.  India, on the other hand, scored on 11 of the 32 (so 34.4%), and conceeded on 1 of the 10 PCs they faced (so a % of 10% rate) - or a GD of 10.

Can’t believe the former British colony games are still a thing. Nobody cares about it. Utterly meaningless

The countries dont need to compete to be fair.

And to emphasise my point, Aus are now leading 7 (SEVEN) 0 in the final.

I mean, lots of people care about sport, and international competition; it has *nothing* to do with former British colonies (Gabon/Togo both joined earlier this year, for instance - and neither have even a slight hint of British empire in their histories); it gives the less known countries more chances of international competition and recognition; etc.

I think they are great and they obviously mean a lot to the people who enter. It gives some of the smaller countries a chance to compete at a decent level. These countries need decent competition to improve and the joy you see if and when they get a medal is great. The mix of disabled and abled heats is great instead of having separate games for both.

There's absolutely no indication that it is "former British colonies".........that's ancient history and those who are competing do so voluntarily and there's no tugging of forelocks involved. It's just a group of countries who have decided to compete against each other and that's the only way it should be viewed unless you want to live in the last century or before.

Tell that to the last 11 days of sell-out crowds, the millions watching around the world and all the athletes competing. Just because you don't care doesn't mean nobody does, or that it's 'meaningless', what an unbelievably arrogant statement.

No country is forced to be a part of the Commonwealth or to compete at the Games. Only two nations have ever actually chosen to leave, one of which (Zimbabwe) now wishes to rejoin. Indeed, four nations (Rwanda, Mozambique, Gabon and Togo) with no historical links to the British Empire have chosen to join in the last 30 years and more have applied.

To refer to it as the 'British colony games' is to deny agency to all countries competing of their own free will. A pretty colonialist mindset, ironically.

These games have been great though. Really well competed, some fantastic events - McColgans win was as good a moment as any Olympic one.
