Does ITV not show spanish footy now? Or did I dream that?

STV Player does mate (Scottish tv app) - though not sure how it works.

Games are still live on Eleven Sports - and now Premier Sports too in the UK :)

According to this - https://www.live-footballontv.com/live-football-on-itv.html - the next live game on ITV4 is on 17th March; Real Betis v Barcelona

Only 14 more games...

Then we get another £4.5m.... we also get another £4.5m if Barca qualify for the CL.

Should be another £9m guarented before the seasons out, sweet.

France Football and a bunch of Spanish journos have said that Zidane has agreed to return to Real.

(a). Very surprised, he must have been promised ownership of the transfer overhaul he didn't get last year;

Good move, suppose he's been given pretty much total control to shape the squad how he wants. Were a lot of rumours he wanted Mane, that needs a polite telling to fuck off if they ever ask, no excuse to lose players any more now.

I'm sure Fiorentino 'LOOK, SQUIRREL !!' Perez will give him the time and patience to rebuild the squad and definitely won't be distracted by the next shiny object he sees winning this year's CL and then throwing $300m towards that club for said shiny object.

Zidane get's a free pass for the rest of the year and he gets the opportunity to build the squad next year.  The pressure will be on next year especially if Madrid spend the amount of money that you would expect they will.  They really need to replace a lot of players and it's not going to be cheap.

Taking that break was the best thing he could have done for himself and the club as a whole in the long term.

Now he gets to return as the hero who will save them, who left because he didn't get it his way and immediately afterwards the team crumbled. He gets to point out that he was right all along when he wanted to make changes and the board, mostly Perez, didn't see it that way.

He will get to sign whoever he wants with unlimited funds.

If I am Bale, I am looking at finding a new club tomorrow. Ditto for Ceballos and James (who it seems won't be permanently signed by Bayern).

Madrid is likely to sell Bale, Isco, and Modric right?  They need a goalscorer so possibly Benzema goes as well.  They probably need a centerback, 2 center midfielders, a right sided forward and a center forward.  You are looking at spending a shit load of money to get the players at the level they need in order to compete with Barcelona.

One thing I would say for sure. Notice the timing of Pep to Juve has coincided with Zidane going to Madrid and the news that UEFA are looking to fine or even ban City from the CL.

It might amount to nothing but since we all know Allegri is leaving Juve at the end of the season, I wouldn't be surprised if the Pep to Juve rumors actually have legs in it, even if he came out and denied it.

It's funny as while he's going to avoid the stink that Lopetugui and Solari will now have associated with them I don't see Zidane's job being that easy next year.  Unless they're getting Mbappe, Messi or Ronaldo is coming back then there is no short, quick fix to making them a guaranteed CL final contender.  Before Ronaldo joined they hadn't advanced past the round of 16 in a decade if I read it right.

Sid Lowe has previously hinted at a combination of fatigue and a lack of input on signings. Zidane didn't want Kepa for instance, as Navas was his keeper, which makes you wonder what happens with Courtois to an extent

There was nothing more that he could do.  Ronaldo was leaving and even with him it wasn't enough to win La Liga.  If he had stayed it would be him probably being fired today.  Instead he gets to come back like a hero without going through the part where they realize they need to spend a lot due to the squad aging out and not being as good as they thought.  Any issues now are from the previous managers or vets on their way out like Ramos or Marcelo who need replacing.

Also did anybody see Ramos's twitter posts today?  Pretty comical.

does seem an odd one, probably the last chance for Mourinho at a big club has now gone (no offence Evertonians!)

He has a heck of a job on his hands, the last time he effectively took over a decent squad from Rafa I think, now he has a crock of ageing, injured, soon to be has-beens and the squad needs a total rebuild. I'm not sure he's the guy for that and even if he is, will Perez give him time or as usual demand instant results...
However if something serious happens to them I will eat my own cock.

Suspect Zidane knew a significant amount of reinvestment was needed but he wasn't given reassurances.

Neymar, Mbappe and Hazard will be on the radar. That's 500 million. Thank fuck all our players signed long extensions.
