Roger, just rang ryanair and their system is down. Asked me to call back again around 3-4.

Rushian, thanks a lot. I'll get on to my mate, and give you a shout later.

Anyone get the feeling that Ryanair are tinkering with prices, I know that is what easyjet do, when this type of thing happens.

Do you know what really annoys me?

Liverpool were yesterday making plans to travel to Slovenia for the first leg, that's how confident they were of things being changed. Yet they make an announcement telling fans not to arrange anything until it is confirmed effectively allowing the travel companies to put the prices up.

Ryanair deffo got wind of something, no doubt about it. Let's see what the prices are like when the system is back up?

As far as I'm concerned Liverpool have messed us all around from day 1.

If they go up by a significant amount then I aint going unfortunately.

And I might just go for a few beers in Austria anyway in October. And I know it clashes with the home leg but there yer go. One pissed off fan.

Think Ryanair had a promotion that was due to end today. As far as i understand their price for any flight goes up the more people are booked on it.

Same as easyjet, they have so many at one price, as soon as they sell that allocation it moves to the next band then the next band etc. (unless they have a sale on)

It looks like there is another offer on from today too Roddy.

If anyone has still to book you can get a return trip to Venice (Marco airport) for about £40.  Going the day before the game and returning at 11am the day after the game.  It is with Easyjet.

As far as I understand the pricing policy of low cost airlines the cheapest seats are the first few on the aircraft and then the last few, so booking a long way ahead, or leaving it until the day before are the cheapest.  Booking the middle seats is the most expensive.  But i guess when they know there will be a demand of a thousand or so for a couple of days then they fuck those rules and go to make a killing.

What is fucking worse is I have left my ticket confirmation number at home so can't change the flights until tommorow now anyway.  Fucking steaming at the moment.

I'm not sure that Ryanair do work that way Roddy. I know easyjet do but ryanair prices fluctuate up and down.

Used the for Ancona and Pescara for the Rome games and there were serious fluctuations in price. The Ancona flight in particular went up to £120 and then down to £2 before going back up to £62.

I mean look at the difference between the tuesday and Wednesday flights £89.99 or £1.99 to Klagenfurt. Both were £4.99 last night. There is no way that this can be justified, just on the number of bookings before 9 this morning, when the game had not officially been changed.

Aidan as a rule, the last few seats will cost upwards on £200, that's how Easyjet do it, when that happens you usually get much better prices going non cheap airlines.

Easyjet work differently to Ryanair.

Only very rarely will easyjet prices go down, with Ryanair it is very common.

I know how easyjet work, and people who book closer to the time and pay 200 quid plus need their head examaning.

just to let people know.  The Ryanair booking site is back up and it appears the prices are the same as before (the outward leg to Klagenfurt on the tuesday MAY have gone up, it is at £34.99)  If you are willing to risk going out on the day of the match to Klagenfurt it is still only about £1.99 (at most £4.99)

The flights to Venice are £4.99 each way for the tuesday out, and the thursday back.

Hoping to change our flights to arrive in Klagenfurt on the 24th, anyone have a link to a car hire company which will let you drive into Slovenia?
Any one any guess as to how many tickets LFC are likely to get for the match? Surely they will have to announce ticket details pretty soon due to the switch.

Saph, I'd recommend a letter of complaint to Parry, but I wouldn't except too much back in the way of a refund, or even an apology. I've managed to sort out a change of dates now, but would be happy to accept your invitation of a pint some other game!

Hope you manage to get something sorted. If ever there was an example to illustrate the need for a fan's liaison officer, then this is surely it.

Dan try going to Venice Treviso with Ryanair for £33.80 (leaving the tuesday, back the thursday)

Or going to Venice Marco Polo with easyjet for £39.98

If a few of you going that route then sorting out a car(s) should be cheapish.

Dan

I'd stick with Graz which is a lot closer than Venice and certainly much better trains. Its ok people telling you to go to Venice but there is the journey at this end and six hours from Venice by train.

Hardly ideal.

You could even do Stansted to Klagenfurt on the Wed to Saturday for just over £50. You'll get there in time for the game.

I wouldn't just look at the cheapest flight tho, think about the travel at the other end, and if you end up having to spend a night soemwhere like Venice your costs could rocket.

Christine and I are flying East Mids - Venice (tues-thurs). Arrival in Venice 2140 so we're kipping there for the night. Sod the trains, a car is deffo best option. Half the cost, half the time.

Have read all of the above posts, but my brain is frazzled already. Have spent all week on this.  :upyours

So, is anyone up for a car share from Venice Marco Polo airport matchday morning, and to get it back sometime Thursday?

If anyone is struggling for flights, it might be worth thinking about East Mids.

Good luck everyone.  :wave

Be advised that many car hire companies have restictions on East European travel from Italy.

The one I have booked with is Europcar East (using www.auto-europe.co.uk) but not cheap.  Cheapest I have seen from Trieste was £40 with ebookers but not sure about their restrictions.

And I have also seen that you need to advise of travelling into Eastern Europe to get a stamp which will allow you across the border.  If you do manage to get through without one, then insurance would be invalid.

So anyone wanting to share a car from Treviso on the Tuesday morning around 8:30am (that's the earliest the rental desk opens), making it back to Treviso for around 8pm on the Thursday, there are a couple of seats available.
