Lucho is hitting his best form right when it's most needed. We could use any bit of help between now and the end of the season.

Great assist for Macca's strike. Thought he was the pick of the attackers again always probing and some great link up play and dribbling against a sea of bodies. It really helped when Robbo was going on his outside against a tired team last 20.
Basically a tap-in with an assist like that!

He's massively important, especially against the back 9s that we seem to face when we play utter dross like that.  It's not always aesthetically pleasing but things seem to happen for him. He's a fantastic footballer.
I don't agree, he'd go to Legoland. Bye.

Probably much harder to defend against when a ball seems to be randomly bobbling about him.

Yeah I really do think that's a lot of it, the street football, scruffy type stuff, he does it better than anyone bar possibly Nunez.

We’re the leading scorers in Europe this season. We’ve scored five goals at Old Trafford this season and lost one and drawn one. Not sure it’s our attack that’s the biggest issue.

So we need to score three goals to win a game? Or five if we count the cup game.

Certainly needed to score the 2nd when we were in total domination, it would have killed them.

Can’t keep having 20+ shots a game and not finishing more of them in open play.

I’m not saying we couldn’t have done better offensively but we’re also conceding at an alarming rate. We lost 4-3 there in the cup and I think we have one clean sheet in our last nine home games.

Our in game management is so poor at times. We could have easily played out a 1-0 win against these.

Don’t disagree with that at all, I do think our forwards don’t help with how poor/careless in possession they are.

Sorry just edited my post as it didn’t read how I intended. (The post match rums going down too easily).

But we also conceded a goal when very much on top by being poor/careless in possession in defence.

One issue with Diaz is, and this is a problem with the forwards in general including Nunez and Gakpo, is that they lack the midfield input that Mane and Firmino provided, maybe why games are more ragged and less controlled than we used to have. Individually, very good player, gets goals but the lack of link up play and control deeper in midfield isn't there, probably because their pressing isn't anywhere near the level that Mane and Firmino had.

He's tireless and puts in the effort and runs all day but I guess it comes down to the counter pressing aspect of the forwards and hunting in packs. Again, Mane and Firmino the absolute best at this. They seemed to be the model forwards for a Klopp side so my question is why did we deviate so drastically in recruitment - is it as simple as those players are few and far between or did the game move on from that and Klopp and Lijnders countered that with the new forwards?

Was our best attacker today, been that way the last few games actually. If he had a better final ball/pass he would be truly top class, but can’t blame him to much when he’s been outperforming Salah and Nunez.

If the commentator I was listening to was right, he’s got 8 goals this year. 3 in Jan, 2 in Feb, 2 in March and another yesterday. Considering all the slating and calls to get rid, those are some pretty decent numbers

Yep. Salah is in dreadful form by his own high standards right now and Nunez, for all of the exceptional things he brings to the side, is always going to be wasteful. But they're both still posting good numbers. We can't expect to score three or four goals every week to win games. It's not realistic for any team, especially one with the amount of injuries we have.

Titles are won on 0's and 1's in the goals conceded tally. We aren't doing this often enough because we don't control games well enough, and we make too many big errors. This has remained the case ever since Covid.

His decision making was so poor though at times. When he was in the box and he should have passed the ball to Son who was free but he went for goal.

He needs to improve his decision making and shooting for sure.

Like him but to get to that next level he has work to do.

no one has 75m to pay though - not with the financial restrictions.

that said - given the joke of the everton punishment - maybe the financial tightening will loosen back up this summer. Maybe it has no effect in Europe.
