the thing that makes it even better is the fact that villa played 3-4 first teamers ;)
Who? As far as i'm concerned its only Maloney. And hes only played a few games this season.

Cant say I've followed the ressies as much as I'd like this season. But the results tell their own story.

Finishing the ressie season as northern champions 3 games early and a comprehensive 3 nil win over a rising Villa side can only be good for the future.

I still think it will be hard for any of the current reserve team to break into the 1st team right now. The FA cup and Carling cup seem their best oppertunity to get games under thier belt. Maybe a couple of loan deals. Maybe I'm wrong though (I hope I am).

I think special praise has to go to Gary Ablett. I'm sure I'm not the only person on here who was disapointed not to see Gary McAllister come in at the end of last season. But Ablett has come in and done a great job with the kids and new guys coming in from other countries still bedding into life in this country.

Watched quite a few reserve games this year and have been very impressed, can't wait to see Nemeth and Insua playing often for the first team.

PS Did anyone else celebrate the goals like it was the first team or was it just me??

I did for the second and third. Seeing how much Villa wanted to win (and especially O'Neill on the bench shouting instructions) made me all competitive. I have really enjoyed following the reserves this season and so pleased for them. They really deserved that win and tonight especially they were playing against some strong, experienced players.

Some of their football is just brilliant and a joy to watch.

What the whole 3 games? Harewood has started just 1 game for Villa this season. 1.

Maloney only 11. So i don't quite see your "If Maloney is then so is Harewood" point.

Well lets just agree that the villa team had far more Premier League experience in thier team than the Liverpool ressies tonight. What is the total number of premiership games that our team has compared to them?

I cant believe that there is an arguement over the number of games a villa player has had in a thread celebrating a win ;)

23 league appearances for Harewood this year, 22 for Maloney.

22 for both it is.

Harewood has started 1. And came on 21 times

Maloney has started 11. And came on 11 times.

Well done. These lads are doing really well. Congratulations to them and Gary Ablett. Hopefully their success means we'll have at least a couple who could look like they could make it into our first team.

I bet when we win number 19 and number 6, you'll be putting up posts in the post match thread like this too.

Just enjoy a little bit of good news at the end of tough season. The future's bright.
