And now ... Ziege to Bayern ?
« on: June 4, 2001, 03:33:26 pm »
With the official website having run it's story all weekend about how Ziege is happy to stay at Liverpool and fight for his place, today's news is that he wants to go to Bayern.

This just goes to show how pointless it is running news stories at this time of year  :P Ziege is also speaking in cliches, saying he "always gives 100-110% in training" - what the fuck does that mean ?

Oh well. Ziege as part exchange for Lizarazu ? I wouldn't complain ...

that might explain why he only gives 30-40% during the match
sell him or just give him away....we dont need him

I wouldn't complain either. Although , I'd worry a little bit about Lizararu's defending, but he looks great going forward.

As for Ziege, he is a football mecenary. You wonder why Big Ged wanted him in the first place, must have been great when the scouts went to have a look or was it that they saw his best bits of action on footie focus like the rest of us.

Christian Zeige. What a big disappointment. >:(
His attitude stinks when all is not well for him, not like the other boys who work hard and KEEP THEIR MOUTH SHUT!

Ziege has, of course, now issued a complete retraction of his "I want to go to Bayern" statement, saying he was misquoted, and was merely commenting that any player given the chance to go there should ... I'm prepared to believe he was conned by journos trying to justify their existence, that's totally congruous with their normal behaviour and my observations on this time of year ...

... and also with ewok's anecdote, that a friend of his who's "in education" suggested that Ziege's son's school records etc had all been forwarded to a certain posh kids' school in London within the last 10 days ...

In that case, I wish Hoddle or whomever the best of luck with him against other teams!

On reflection, a subtlety of Ziege's comments emerges. Is he telling Lizzie Razoo that he's better off not coming to Anfield  ??? ??? ???

:-/

Don't you people think it is a waste to let Ziege go ? Maybe he really is gonna better his life at Anfield !?
He is after all quite a good player, or at least he used to be. As for Lizarazu, he's good but he's also 31 I understand. Not one for the future than, is he ? I don't know what has been the main problem with Ziege, I heard it was about him not wanting to be a substitute or something, was it ? How can we know for sure ? The strange newspapers in England allways make up stories like the Fowler shit, him not wanting to play in a rotation system, him wanting to leave and all that crap. How can we be so sure about the Ziege story being completely true ?

It would probably be hard for him to earns himself a regular starting place but I think he should be given another shot, if he wants one that is...could be more than useful as backup or on a rotating system... if he was happy to play second string that is...

Ziege's under-achievement with us is mystifying and frustrating. I remember his second half appearance as sub v. Bucharest at home, when he set the game alight (inasmuch as you can set anything to sodden and saturated alight) ... versus Chelsea away, the nadir of the season, he was the only player I felt showed any passion - a stark contrast for some future outings ... and versus Leicester away he again looked like he gave a fuck when few others didn't. He seems to excel in disappointing games, and vice versa.

The irony of course is the trouble we went to to get him and now are in an equal hurry to sell him.

But this aint fucking Champ Manager, he's a German internationl and he aint gonna sit in our reserves.

Bixies age does'nt come into it I think Geds plan has always been to try and bring someone in who could help to influence the likes of Vignal who in my opinion is houlliers long term solution in the problem position

Of course Lizarazu's age is an issue, I don't think it is a big problem, but if you exclude players over 30, you also loose out on a lot of Experience. Just look at Gary Mac. He might not be a spring chicken and he might not be able to run for 90 mins, then again, but his Experience is one of the main reasons we did the treble this year. I think that Ziege has opened his mouth and will go, I don't think that Lizarazu will come, but for what it's worth the left back is NOT a problem position with Jamie and Vignal fighting for it I think we can all relax a little

I think that all of the speculation is ridiculous. Houllier will probably just sign one or two players. I don't think any of the big names that are being touted will come (Except perhaps Sol  ;D)
