England have 10% of the runs and NZ have 10% of the wickets after 10% of the overs.

Could be very tight this.

NZ deserved that wicket, important innings from Root now. Need to just hang in there for a few overs.

Going to have to look to bowlers four and five to up the rate, just see these two off with minimal damage.

This is like one of those old fashioned ODIs. Tense. Lowish scoring.

Yeah, doesn't take into account conditions.

No caught and bowled chance is easy, but that's about as easy as they come!

Got to score off the medium pace because Lockie Ferguson hasn’t bowled a ball yet and he’s one of the highest wicket takers. 90 odd miles an hour won’t be easy on here.

Idiotic from Root.

If NZ can keep this up for another few overs England will throw their wickets away.  Stokes might show patience, but Bairstow, Morgan and Butler et al will be throwing the bat at it and following Root back to the hutch.

Rancid from Root

Need an innings from Morgan
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Two shots in a row you would not expect from Root.

Just need one partnership...

Should let the others do that. Hang around and bat the overs. The others are a bit gung ho, very much in the balance now.

Big challenge here...  need to try and hurdle a run a ball to get the score board ticking over

Never seen Root play like that. Must be pressure.

After the first swipe I thought he would calm down but then he does it again next ball.

It’s one of those sporting conundrums though. It’s all about staying positive for England and attacking, but out there in the middle you also need to adapt to the conditions and bowling to some extent. It’s what is so challenging about the big matches in any sport
