Overclockers
Ebuyer
yoyotech
dabs

All now charging extra just to post to NI due to couriers charges. Not many using Royal Mail and most going through city link. Just find it a rip off to pay more than that. Was looking to get some new hardware for my computer but no way am I paying 15 quid extra.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus (probably has the best detection rates of any anti-virus program) is on special offer at Amazon:

Can't be bothered to format the links properly below so just go to Amazon.co.uk and type in Kaspersky

URL="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kaspersky-Internet-Security-User-Licence/dp/B000N1XV66"]Kaspersky Internet Security 6 (3 User Licence) (PC)

Kaspersky Internet Security 6 (3 User Licence) (PC) Was £59.99 Now £14.97

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6 (3 User License, 1 year Base) (PC) Was £39.99 Now £10.97

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6 (Renewal Edition) (PC) Was £22.06 Now £6.97

Presumably because they're about to stop selling version 6 as version 7 is out. Still one of the best AV products on the market though.

Nice. Should be even more drops soon as well, as the newer 1333MHz FSB chips come out, plus AMD are bound to follow suit.

They've also got the new 1333Mhz chips on there.  2.66Ghz 1333Mhz cheaper than the top selling 2.4Ghz 1066Mhz FSB.

Am really torn between which to get, for value the Quad core is just too good to pass up but then so are the 1333Mhz FSBs.

Need to decide on a motherboard aswell now to go with either chip.

Some motherboard reviews/ rankings. If you go with the higher FSB chips, I don't think the P965 or 975 chipsets support 1333MHz, so you'd be looking at a 650i or 680i.

The new P35 supports it as well, and some now support DDR3 although it would be hard to recommend DDR3 memory at current prices

But it will near enough future proof your motherboard.

Just to note the price on the quads have gone back up, but I suspect they will be back down on monday as that is when the intel price cuts occur.

Are those price cuts likely to be followed by AMD do we think?

There were cut by 25% to 30% about 3 weeks ago, but the product range currently offered, especially in dual and quad (non-existant) market is a long way behind.  AMD announced their cuts first but looks like they have had enough and won't be cutting again till the end of the year at the earliest.

Still, when you can get an X2 6000+ for around £120, you can't complain.

I suppose its possible they might make further adjustments when the Barcelona core comes to market, but its not like a lot of the X2 range has much room to get cheaper.

I'm currently on an Athlon XP 3000. The best my 939 mb will take is an Athlon X2 - I think 4200 is the highest. Is it worth me making the switch?

Ebuyer have it for £65

Armin, I'll probably have a Socket 939, X2 4600 going spare shortly, if you're interested,  due to my old mobo seeming to have some problems and me probably upgrading the lot this time around

I think they went up to 4800 at one stage on 939 (maybe even higher) but I've only seen up to about 4200 or so recently myself, as stocks become more limited with everything moving to AM2 now

I've just seen from www.thinkbroadband.com that Talk Talk are offering a free DTT box (Sagem FreeviewTM ITD68 GB) and 2 months free subscription to Setanta for new & existing customers during August.

However, you should note that this is for the Terrestrial Service and so will not include the LFC Channel!
