Kingston 2GB DDR2 SO-DIMM 200 Pin PC2-5300 667Mhz.  It says its for Apple machines only but works in normal laptop PC's too.

Back in stock soon, if you want to order two like I did, used voucher code GOODHOUSE94XT1 to get £5 off, so you're getting 4GB of Laptop RAM for £50 delivered.

http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3497002/Kingston-2GB-DDR2-SODIMM-Upgrade-For-Apple-iMac-MacBook/Product.html

Laptop running so much sweeter since upgrading from 1GB to 4GB!

Spot on!  Just ordered!  Say it's out of stock, but as long as they honour the price, I'm not so fussed :)

Very easy to upgrade, there's plenty of youtube vids on how to do it too.

Definitely not, the RAM will help without a doubt.....  You could even go for a cheap option and get 1gb for £15 or so.  Which still seems like a crazy price.

The chances are you only have 512MB in your computer. 512GB would be dream stuff  ;D

Mine is also an Acer.

There's a handy application on the Crucial site which scans your PC and tells you what RAM you've got installed, and what the slots will support: -

Ipod docks and speakers bargain
« Reply #176 on: January 5, 2008, 09:33:39 pm »
Sorry to start a thread but some Rawkers might be in the market for an Ipod docking station.

I have just spent a week looking for a decent system to play my Ipod through and I will tell you I was struggling  Until I found this at the ultimate price.

The bass on this is rubbish as you increase the volume, it really struggled. But admittedly it was winning my shopping list but was really too expensive for something to just play on ipod on.

Cheers Bez, managed to find one in a local Curry's. It's a fantastic piece of kit, really high build quality, sod the looks it's the sound that counts. Anyway once the sub is hidden out of the way I don't think the speakers will look too bad. I also love the idea of a remote that can be used in other rooms or from the garden :)   Anyway getting a Bose beating hi fi system for less than £80 makes up for any doubts over the looks.
Well, I don't know what it is, but there's definitely something going on upstairs

Bloody Sat-nav. Popped into a Curry's near my work at lunch break for one of those speakers above that you can't say let alone speak.

After trying to pronounce and spell it for five minutes, ascertained that he didn't have any in store. Are some in WImbledon though. Check the sat-nav, can just amke it there and back to work by the end of my lunch break.

After about 10 mins start to worry that this really doesn't look like Wimbledon - itw asn't - must have touched the bloody screen and it set me off to a bloody interesction in Ham. Just back to work in time sans speakers.

Are all the games legit? If not I would suggest removing them, otherwise you are selling pirated material, which one can only assume is not 'officially' condoned on RAWK.

Let people PM you to ask about games. :)

If you ring them up, their central system has no track of any units.

If however you pop into a store, their instore tracking computer can tell you if there are any units in nearby Currys.

Remember to take the name of what you want written down - the ifi is both impossible to spell and even speak when under pressure.

Mine has just blown the door off me cupboard - pesky subwoofer!

As Mooro says its the instore computer system that has the details you need. I managed to get a helpful assistant to check it over the phone and then drove to the store to pick it up. I've sent each of you the same link to the store numbers and Emlyn has the product code now as well so could sent it to Alf.

If you get lucky you'll be glad you made the effort. Mooro I take it you're happy with it?

I am Armin. Emlyn was with me (oo-er) over the weekend and has now developed my technolove, so wants one.

It compares favourably with my JBL creatures, which for their size were ridiculously good.

I don't think the bass is all that given the size of the sub.

However - there is a lovely "full sound" with depth. The volume even on full doesn't blow me away - it's certainly not ear spliting - but it is a room filler in a mellow melodius manner. A lovely harmonius 3d sound stage.

Inicidentally I have seen some criticism of the unit for breaking up at top volumes - I have found this not to be an issue for any encoding over 192kbs.

Overall I would say it does mp3/aac very well indeed and probably as good as any player will. It certainly isn't audiophilic quality (my 5.1 5 yr old videologic dts does more impressive sound) but as a complememnt to the ipod its near damn perfect (especially as my new classic is silver/gray).

I've also managed to hide the sub in a cupboard and the satellites make up the bookends of a middle shelf. So with the grills off, it actually looks rather decent.

Overall a solid 8/10 for me, but at the price we payed, make that a 10.

How have you found it Armin?

p.s. big up to RAWk for the heads up.

That's an excellent description Mooro and one I'd go along with. The bass is powerful enough but you can get a powerful bass out of any old sub, the nice thing about the Klipsch sub is it only enhances the sound rather than dominating it. Full sound is exactly the way I'd describe it, the 2 speakers are excellent as well. I've kept the grilles off and as you say with the sub tucked in a corner they sit nicely along some tall books/pictures, nowhere near as in your face as an all in one unit would be.

I've wound it up once and on the better encoded files its a dream. Without blowing the doors off it would easily supply the music to a party, I wouldn't really listen any louder than it can go anyway. It fills the room and that's sufficient.

It's made me want to reencode some of my music in lossless format, not sure what the ipod will support with that though. It certainly fills a decent sized room and without distorting or feeling as if its straining. My existing stereo wasn't up to much and its far better than that, I'm going to run a cd through it soon to see what its like with a better source than an mp3. A good separates amp and speakers to replace my stereo were on my list of buys but I think I'm happy enough with this, although a true audiophile would want more.

Apologies to Alf and Emlyn if this is doing your head in. I'll stop there :)

All in all a big hit and a big up to Bez rather than Rawk for the spot. He may be cruelly deluded in his choice of Rugby League team but he can spot a bargain.  Drinks on me next time you're at the Halliwell J?
Well, I don't know what it is, but there's definitely something going on upstairs
