We really need to figure out where best to play him, or where he fits into a new system - he’s so good on the ball but we lack width on right and it harms our play I think.

Basically, where do we want him on the ball and he how can we still stretch the pitch with runners at same time.

Under the new manager, it will be midfield or RWB.

Very good game. His long passes nullified their press in the first half and forced them back.

When he went off, we looked out of ideas.

Yes. When he isn't on the pitch, you don't know what you're missing. You think we'd be alright without him. The moment he pings one of those crosses, you know exactly why he needs to play.

That, but also our attackers being so fluent across positions on the pitch. They could run wherever, and Trent would justfind them.

Also going from Trent to Gomez in that situation was brutal.  Like all of us I love Gomez but that really wasn't the game for him.  There was a moment with about five minutes left where we had a throw-in near their corner flag and Gomez threw it back to the halfway line and we restarted the Alisson passing hypnotherapy - it's a really minor thing but Gomez just doesn't see the game anything like Trent does.

Yes. Trent had run out of energy, which is no surprise given how long he was out, but I wished we'd had someone else to.brimg on. Bradley at least has boundless energy and agression, and a drive to go forward. Gomez is much more defensively minded.

He is. He's usually in the center of the park, so he has to go right to his position in defense.

Very rarely do in demand players sign contracts when they are in their last year. I think he will see who we appoint and decide based on that. If it is a new Rodgers esque manager I reckon he is out the door.

It's incredible that we play him absolutely anywhere on the pitch but his best position - a right half-space. A position that's dying for a player of his skill-set. The number of clear cut chances he'd create from there would be unprecedented especially when you consider the quality of movement from most of our forwards.

A real performance today. Most players take time to come to the boil after a spell of injury.

He'll sign a 3-year deal, I reckon. Gives him time until he's 27/28 to make a move to Madrid, if he ever wants to leave.

I don't think he will leave now, not at such a crucial juncture for the club. He idolises Stevie way too much to do that to us.

He's just exceptional at spotting runs and creating chances. Everytime he was in the middle and on the ball, you knew he was going to make something happen. But he spent a lot of time on the right touchline also when we had possession and wasn't too involved. I definitely feel he's wasted when he's on the right these days. We have to find a way to play him more in the middle. He's just world class on the ball and we need to get him involved a lot more. That right mid position seems the best fit for him with Mac on the left. It will be interesting to see howbthe new manager uses him.

To be fair, no one does.

He's clearly not back to 100% yet but in the last couple of games he's already shown more than a few hints of what we've been missing.

If only he'd been back a week or two sooner...

Waiting for the new manager whilst flashing his knickers at Real Madrid and his best mate Bellingham.

Don't imagine he'll be too excited by some of the managerial names being bandied about. It'll be "unpopular" with more than the fans if Thomas Frank is hired, for instance.

It's very, very concerning.

On a positive note, he's fucking brilliant and hope he stays here forever.

We got him for free from the academy, so it's not like we need to make money back.

I wouldn't expect any of our players to sign new contracts until the new manager is confirmed and had a chance to speak with them.

It's a weak point in his game that has been identified since he came into the first team. And years later, there still doesn't seem to be any significant improvement in his defensive capabilities. Not sure what training he has been on but definitely nothing related to the finer points of proper defending
