i loved independance day
For me, Independence Day is teetering on the brink between two 'brackets of opinion'. If it was supposed to be a super-duper world changing blockbuster then it is indeed a pile of gish. However, if it's merely supposed to be a high budget B-Movie then it's actually a good, cheesy yarn. I think with Independence Day a lot of people feel cheated after the hype. It makes me laugh when Bill Pulman (after spending most of the film trying to seek a diplomatic solution) suddenly 'sees sense' and delivers the line 'Nook 'em - let's nook da berstids!'
Oh - Cliffhanger. A shocking film. AWFUL sets that look like something from a department store at Christmas, a crap ending 'Hey, no worries Sly - you can kill my girlfriend anytime you like you butter-fingered mumbling buffoon' and cringeworthy dialogue: Craig Fairbrass a.k.a. that bloke from London's Burning/Eastenders kicking some fella in the head while shouting 'Soccer - great sport. I was a fackin' good striker!' in an overly hammed up for the US audience cockney accent. The main reason I hate Cliffhanger though is because all the screens showing Jurassic Park were full. Mehhh!!!
I liked Fight Club when the 'twist' occurred, actually.
