Ana Moura - nice.
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

Find the three tremendously irritating, but still curious to see what they'll be like, especially Kenye. Its a stellar ensemble regardless.

another splendid show this week....Pixies kicked bottom and I enjoyed the all singing/twirling Janelle Monae......but highlight for me was the Glasgow band 'Chvrches' (part Sugar Cubes part Depeche Mode part Altered Images)....very good standard thus far

Favourite music show. Would love to have scored some tickets when I was living in London. Unfortunately, they were harder to get then tickets to an Champions League match at Goodison.

Jools brought me, Bloc Party, Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, just to name a few.
And all the world is football shaped, It's just for me to kick in space. And I can see, hear, smell, touch, taste.

Paul Simon, Laura Mvula, Kano, The Coral, Jason Isbell and Lake Street Dive

Something died when Later decided to broadcast on a Tuesday and Friday. It was much more of an event when it was just on a Friday night, I still don't see the sense of having a shorter show on Tuesday nights.

Enjoyed this week's show - a good opener.

The Coral and Laura Mvula good, as expected.

Really enjoyed Jason Isbell's tracks.  I saw him supporting Ryan Adams in 2012 (enjoyed his set then too) but never really followed that up with much listening - I'll definitely do so this time.

Thought Lake Street Dive were very good - I'll be listening to more of their stuff!

---

I'd be amazed if Biffy Clyro aren't on during this run (their album is out early July) and, with an album released last week, I'd like to think PJ Harvey might make an appearance too.  Hoping, also, for The Kills.

Also really liked Baaba Maal and Mumford and sons Collaboration.

Quote
Jools Holland returns with a special and very different series, filmed at Jools’s creative home, his studio in south London.

To kick off the series, Jools chats to French musician Christine and the Queens from her base in Paris, where she has been entertaining fans with lockdown performances including music from her latest EP La Vita Nuova. The pair talk through her musical journey, loves and influences, which are illustrated by classic clips from the Later… archive and include an interesting mix of global stars and French hip-hop, and Jools discovers what her favourite TV performance of all time is.

Alongside the archive, new music continues to feature throughout the series and in this first show, singer-songwriter Laura Marling performs a song from her home from her seventh album, Song for Our Daughter, which she released earlier than originally planned in light of the current situation and is addressed to an imaginary daughter.

Across the series, Later… celebrates all types of music, contemporary and classic, from across many genres, and each programme also focuses on some of the new artists and music emerging in this unusual period, through VTs and special performances created for the show.
