Cheers. That sounds right.  What was the link please? I'll save it. I have tried three, including TC from the official sire but all seem dead.

That sounds right though.

Good thing for me that I'm doing it from Belgium, still a 6 hour drive :D.

Only bad thing is that there only seems to be a motorway tax sticker for a full year.

Avoiding motorways in Switzerland, cheapskate that I am! ;)

We'll probably do the same thing, depending on our route we'll go off at the last exit in France or Germany.
How long will the drive be for you?

But first, I need to be sure that I can get 2 tickets!

Where did you get the train from Barca for so cheap mate? Could only find £100 return on them

Same mate, got flights from Manchester to Barca for 70 quid return Tue - Thurs. Looked at the trains and you can get return for 70 quid so not too bad. Theres a few of us going so where hiring a minibus instead which makes it about a tenner each then fuel on top between 8.

Whoever said they cant find the train fares below £100 are you looking at the right site as im still getting them for £70 return

For anyone who is booking trains from Barca to Madrid return the actual site the Spanish use is renfe.com don't use the British ones as they take a cut. To reserve train details you need to give your passport number and name fro ID proof. Hope this helps some people as the only other site we found were the English ones above that rip you off

Not checked trains yet but there's no rush going Monday and coming back Friday

Evening flight from Stansted and stop over in Plovdiv Monday night.
Leisurely train to Sofia on the Tuesday.
3 nights in Sofia.
Then Leisurely train back to Plovdiv on Friday for the evening flight back to Stansted.

That's my plan anyhow :)

Have you booked yet? Just been looking again and Monday-Friday via Gatwick is £60 return... Just not sure I want to go for 5 days!

If you look in the young boys thread from a couple of years ago it tells you how and when to sort trains. think its exactly 2 weeks before your travel date and the specials come on for a fraction of the price. That's what we did last time. hell of a lot cheaper.
Anyway its all in that thread for anyone travelling by train in Switzerland.
How much easier it is to be critical than to be correct.

Not yet. we are all discussing the five day trip at the moment.  I fancy going via Plovdiv myself.

That £54 return from manc/Sofia Tuesday/Saturday sounds tempting though.

Just a thought for anyone looking for a route to Basel. When we played Inter a few years ago, we flew to Basel and got the train from there to Milan. I can't remember how much it cost but I don't think it was anything daft. It's a brilliant train journey though, through the Alps and past Lake Como. Long enough that you can sit off, have a laugh and enjoy the scenery with a crate. Not too long that it becomes a proper trek.

So if you can get cheap flights to Milan, consider it as an option. I'd defo do it again.

thinking of booking flights to Bulgaria. Does anyone know for definite if Ludogorets will have to play their games elsewhere? and if they move to a 40,000 seater etc then what sort of allocation will Liverpool receive? I'm guessing they won't sell 30,000 +? Really wan't to go but going to Madrid as well and can't really justify spending another couple of hundred quid going to Bulgaria and not actually going to the game itself. thanks in advance for any answers
