Remember a few years back when Mo was on a poor streak in front of goal and I think it was away at Southampton (we were in the yellow kit) and he's through on goal with Mane running beside him? I remember just screaming for him the whole way to pass it pass it pass it and then he scored.

Felt like that a bit today. One of those goals that will be memorable for years to come because of how often he misses those chances and then he goes and lobs the keeper instead of trying to slot it away. What a really amazing finish when you consider the context of the rest of the season and the fact that the goalkeeper actually had really good positioning for any other type of shot than that. His face after said it all.

Will do him the world of good.

Lucky finish he is the only guy who misses chances in the PL too who knew that ?

I just wish he was as good as Antony I mean seriously United would be better. off with Antony Cotton up front for them he is the worst signing in the league along with that Chelsea player from Ukraine utter turds.

I wonder if this might make other goalies overthink the situation next time he's one on one with them? Could work against the less confident ones for sure.

Such a shame we’re not going to see the Jota, Nunez, Salah front three for a while. It’d almost be like starting a match a minimum 2-0 up.

Just rewatching the goal from the weekend. He was virtually in the 'D' outside our penalty area when the ball gets to Virgil.

That was my thought as well, Jota not holding his run well enough or wide enough, maybe Nunez slowing down that split second to chip was enough for Jota to run offside.

Imagine Nunez passed it and Jota was offside, call the cries of "that is a man with no confidence choosing to pass when one on one'  ;D

Owen  just looking click bait

Its an Optus sports video which is the main broadcaster in my country Australia, wasn't just Owen.

They were going off the tweet he made, and then explained how his only gonna score that 1-2/10 times.

The host also said his numbers have been ok, 13/11 in 37 apps and why that eqautses to him being a cult hero?

Conor Coady was there too.

Video was legit anti Nunez.

I have watched the same video and definitely didn't think it was anti-Nunez at all. I thought it was a fair and balanced discussion about Nunez's decision making and maybe one can disagree with Owen but he explained his point of view respectfully. I think a lot of our fans just need to grow a pair.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Just when we thought the Darwin criticism couldn't get any stupider, we get the "yeah, but he didn't score proper."

He's a tit but I get what he's saying - going for a finish like that is more risky than just slotting it past the keeper, however, the tit head hasn't really looked at the goal itself, because of course he's missed that the keeper is 12 yards from goal, leaving Darwin with narrow angles, so going over the keeper was probably the best choice in that particular instance. ;D

I just think he was wrong, Nunez didn't run in a straight line towards the goal like he explained.

There is a much better video from James Lawrence Alcott that goes in depth with a numerous amount of shots and where he is getting the shots off from VS where he was getting shots off last season.

He's trying to over intellectualise totally subjective stuff - like everyone is  ... finishing is secondary ... also his finishing / decision making is fine

All you need is his xg to know he's going to score a shit load of goals..
This stuff is becoming a bit like weight loss and food.. we know the answer is calories in / calories out but people constantly want to reinvent it or find a nuance etc etc...
xg / quality shots = goals... over time everything else is detail. It's boring but it's also the answer
