Just got back from Slovenia.
Would like to thank all the Slovenian lads we met over there.
All the people of Ljubljana are really friendly people and I would like to apologise on behalf of the true supporters for the minority.
Thankfully there were only a couple of small, isolated incidents.

Even when we stumbled into the kind of bar I wouldn't even go into over here, we were still made welcome.

At one point there was a guy wearing just a red elephant posing pouch

singin an hysterically funny song in a small fountain outside a pub.
A bunch of bizzies in riot gear turned up and I feared the worst.
Fair play, the bar staff explained to the police that we were only having a laugh and they went away.
Other countries would not have been so lenient.
A lot of scarf swapping took place and from what I saw, the feeling was of mutual respect with everyone I met.
A few Slovenian reds were in our block for the match and (although very pissed) really enjoyed the atmosphere.
Hopefully we can return the goodwill when they come over.

someone said to me he was the same bloke from the Amsterdam tournament. There was a picture of him on here.

Echo what Jimbo said, lovely place and people. Only downside was the bar that ran out of draught beer at 5pm, then out of all beer at about 1am same day. When I asked her why, the barmaid said that Slovenians dont drink so much beer!

Would love to go back and get more than a few hours in the town, so I could admire some buildings

Would like to echo's Jimbo's sentiments. And nice to meet you Jimbo and Christine.

Lovely place, union beer is quite nice, horse burgers are a bit tough, and most of the people are very friendly. Would definitely go back for a holiday.

I had the Foal Fillet in Julijyas[ I think thats how you spell it] and it was great. Another echo on the previous posts,cracking place and friendly, bit like a mini Prague. Most of our lads wanted to stay longer or come back to visit.Pity they emptied the mini bars in our hotel rooms before we arrived though. Bit over the top at the airport on arrival as well.Footy souvenirs were like rocking horse shit. Struggled to get them but finally got a shirt at the ground.

PLanning on going back to Ljubljana in a month or two for a pint. It remains one of the best euro aways i've been on. Not because of the football, not because of the pivo, not because of the beautfiul women, not becuase of the rattler down through the Alps, not because of the 30 odd quid I spent the whole week, not because of the humbre bar, not because of the mad taxi driver, not because of the mad Maribor fan, not because of the Serbian lad tryina take us all on with a bar stool, not because of Olly, Aidan and Alan getting arrested as a result, it was because Gary Scott had to piss in the hotel lift didnt he! Whatever happened to the lad?

Certainly was a good trip that one. I saw Gary Scott last year in Istanbul, word is that he is all loved up with a girl and has pretty much jacked the footie in.

That was a pretty mad bump mate, 6 years!

I must say that Ljubljana remains one of my best euro aways, got to be the drunkest...
Can't remember too much of the game, did the horse burger after the match and then fell asleep in a strip club, as you do. When we got back to the hotel/hostel we were greeted by a guy covered in white powder being chased by someone with a fire extinquisher. Classic.

Liked the place so much that I went back 3 months after with my girlfriend to look for a house to buy as an investment. Found one in the mountains and bought it, moved here fulltime last year and really enjoying it.

So when somebody asks me what I'm doing living in Slovenia I say it's because of LFC.

Browsing RAWK and I noticed the Ljubljana thread was bumped last year. Reading through it brought back some grand memories of a fantastic away trip at a great city.

Ljubljana has it all. Beautiful scenery, even more Beautiful women, good beer, strip bars and delicious horse burgers, and in September 2003 it also had a mad pissed up scouser in an Elephant pouch. One of the funniest things I've ever seen at an away game.

I've dug out my pictures of the trip which include 'Elephant man' and posted them below for those who remember the game and want to reminise a bit

I think the next pic was taken at half-time and loads were buying cheap replica Ljubljana shirts with probably Olympia Ljubljana's most well know ever player Robert Prosinečki's name on the back. I for one didn't realize that Prosinečki had left the club for Zagreb in the summer of that year. Crafty bastards!!

The legendary Elephant Pouch man. Does anyone know this guy? Thos coppers were pissing themselves laughing at him

The clock end of the ground. Very unique town hall type building. Looks quite impressive to be honest.

Elephant Pouch sort of watching the game. That couldnt have been very comfortable.
