Close up of the shoulder truss on the flat bed truck. A & B are the top connections. Bolts on the shoulder section mostly in place and these splices would be the first to be assembled, although not tightened. C&D Bracing loosely assembled to allow for adjustment while A & B are assembled. E is the bottom splice (F not visible), again loosely assembled to allow adjustment. On D you can see there's only one bolt and the plates have been swung out of the way to ease location and assembly.
Crosby Nick never fails.
Erections, crossing streams... thread needs an 18+ warning.
As someone who has just struggled to assemble a sum linger I often wonder how it must feel to be this clever.
Its all about winning shiny things.
What does that mean in RAWKenese Alan?
Have to say I’m impressed with the methodology they’re using. It’s a constrained site and they’re doing everything with mobile cranes - no tower crane. What might have looked perverse at first sight (just building the central three bays of the upper tier, leaving gaps in the first floor slab is a well thought through sequence. When they built the first floor hospitality concourse I thought it was for site accommodation but it was so they could assemble the centre truss section in situ ready for the lift. Really impressive.
I'm also a construction pro Alan and have the same view as you on this. Very impressed with the way they're going about business so far.
I’m a construction pro too
I'd urge you to scrub up on your spelling first & then move on to the bigger tasks!
I'm a construction pro and so is my wife.
Thanks for that Alan.I was wondering why they didn't just construct the entire truss as one and then lift it on to two support structures/columns at the side like they did for the MS which was a far bigger construction. So did they break up the construction of the truss in to different parts as the site was very constrained do you think?
Is it today the erection happens? Thought it was Sunday.
yer ma should have called you Paolo Zico Gerry Socrates HELLRAZOR
Just been to the ground now, one of the workers told me the big lift about 2pm (depending on the weather) no stiff breeze at the moment, so hopefully erection goes a head.
Just discovered this thread. I feel as though my life now has a new dimension!
You should ask Craig about any further stand expansions
What about filling in the corners?
Personally I'd divert Walton Breck Road and rebuild the Kop...
After being completely cynical about it for the last 10 years, I actually think this lot may be able to come up with a way to do it now. And might even try go through with it.
I'm not sure about demolition. What you gain in a few thousand seats would be lost in the atmosphere and the tight, compressed feeling of it as it is now.
I was a construction pro like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.
efflorescence(Just wanted to add something that sounded knowledgeable to the thread )
