Some observations from today:
- The site did not crash for me.
- For a sale where the site was not crashing, this was the slowest response time ever. Adding seats to baskets sat on "waiting for socket" for over a minute. Trying to delete a single ticket from a basket was taking around 30 seconds. On previous sales, this is usually less than 5 seconds.
- Having previously argued that the queue time was now random, I no longer think that is the case. We had 20+ sessions on 5 computers downstairs and another 20+ sessions across 5 computers upstairs. They all joined the site-closed page around 07:55. The sessions were across multiple browsers and Chrome logins, so there were no shared session cookies. Every downstairs session (next to the router) got a <45 wait or worse. Every upstairs session (on same router) got 13 to 20 minutes. If this was random, the chance of that happening is infinitesimally small. I am guessing they are looking at device id's now, since all sessions on the same computer had similar wait-times. But I can't explain why 5 computers in one room should all be bad and 5 in another should all be good.
