Perhaps we could send some love to him @Jesanchez3. This is an horrific story for the poor guy

Thought it was worth ganjnf this in the main football forum

Quote
There are times when life has unexpected situations in store for you. And when they arrive you have to know how to face them with strength, integrity and perspective. José Enrique , a former Spanish footballer from Liverpool, had to play one of the most important games of his life. And he had to do it outside of a football field. A little over a month ago they told him that he had a tumor on his head. For a healthy person, elite athlete and player in one of the most successful clubs in Europe, the blow is tremendous.José Enrique hung up his boots in September 2017 after playing his last year at Zaragoza, but remained linked to this sport. He joined the representation agency that his brother has and since the end of last year he was steeped in the trade. Precisely in one of the trips to meet he found the most bitter chapter of his life.

"We were meeting with Chris Hughton, coach of the Brighton that I had during my time at Newcastle, and that night I was beginning to get annoyed, I arrived at the hotel and thought they were migraines." During the night I had a brutal headache. the next morning I started to see blurry, then I started to see double, I had my eyes open and I saw double, I had to go to the emergency room and after nine hours there I had a CT scan They see me neurologists The test indicated that I had a vein in the I was sent to St. George's Hospital in London immediately, specialized in Neurology, I spend two nights there, " José Enrique tells MARCA .After the preoccupation of the first days, a doctor informs to the one that was soccer player of the Liverpool that still they do not know what it really suffers. Finally, a neurosurgeon informs José Enrique and his family that he has a chordoma, a rare type of tumor . "It is a tumor located in a complicated area of the head, it is very rare, it is not very usual, it was located behind the eye, that is why I now wear a patch", he reveals.

"They even told me I had options to run out of vision"
José Enrique, former Liverpool soccer player
José Enrique is given the option to have surgery in England or to do it in the Valencian Community, in the Hospital La Fe. He, who is from Valencia, does not doubt it and decides to intervene surrounded by his family and his friends. "It was a complex surgery, Dr. Simal and his team operated on me last week, I went into the operating room at 9 in the morning and I left at 6 in the afternoon, the tumor was stuck to the artery and it was a complicated intervention," José Enrique recalls that he wanted to thank the health professionals for their work: "They did an exceptional job, I was in the ICU for 24 hours and I am very grateful to the work of Dr. Simal and his medical team." They were the worst days of my life I stayed in bed for five days without moving. "Radiation therapy in Zurich or ParisAlthough he has been at home for a few days, José Enrique still has months ahead of recovery. "All this makes values more life, soccer players live in a bubble, it's an unreal life, you lose yourself and you think you're invincible." When you play soccer, your head does not check it, "he says. Now he has to comply with a series of guidelines so that everything continues as before. "I can not lift weight, I can not bend, I have the bed adapted to sleep in a position of 30 degrees so that I do not raise the blood pressure of my head ..."
"The football player's life is unreal, you have to value things"

On July 26 he will visit the doctor again and will have to start receiving radiotherapy. " There are only four machines in Europe . My options are to go to Zurich or Paris. I have to receive 35 sessions. I'll be about month and a half off, but that's not important. I want to get well. I came to say that there were options to stay blind, then I regained my vision and even the doctors were surprised . "Support from his girlfriend and her familyJosé Enrique, who also had to learn to walk again after the operation, lost about six kilos in a single week. It is expected that by the end of September he will recover his normal life again. "I want to thank my girlfriend, my parents and my brothers, as well as Dr. Simal, his team and La Fe hospital," says José Enrique.
I want to thank you for being there to my girlfriend, my parents, my brothers to Dr. Simal, to all his team and to La Fe hospital "

The ex-Liverpool has also received the support and affection of colleagues and footballers who are now in the World Cup in Russia. From the different concentrations of their teams, Coutinho, Luis Suarez, Keylor Navas, Reina, Dybala or Fazio wanted to be close to the Spanish and also thank the medical services for the care they have given their friend.

The drink that José Enrique has had to pass through makes him value what he has even more and he wants to send the message that with attitude and being positive you can get out of a bad situation. You can fill Anfield with 55,000 people in the stands, but the most important thing is to be surrounded by good people and know how to enjoy life at every moment.
“Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
“Generosity always pays off. Generosity in your effort, in your work, in your kindness, in the way you look after people and take care of people. In the long run, if you are generous with a heart, and with humanity, it always pays off.”

Rafa Benitez: "I'll always keep in my heart the good times I've had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager. Thank you so much once more and always remember: You'll never walk alone."
