38th minute

Jerome blasts the ball way over the bar. Real end to end stuff here, with great attacking play from both sides. Reina's all that keeping us from a three-nil loss at the moment.

Hodge shading his eyes from the sun, get that man a pair of Ray-bans.

Brum throw to Jerome, who yet again launches it into outer space.

The Brum midfielders have free will to abuse Lucas as they want. MacFadden pushes him to the ground, they keep kicking him. Maxi is getting abused as well.

Now there's letting the game flow and ignoring fouls. The ref doesn't seem to spot the difference

Roger Johnson inches away from nodding the ball in. Carra missed the ball or ignored the man behind him. Anyway, we're alarming close to conceding

MacFadden with a pathetic attempt at getting a foul on Skrtel. Throws himself to the ground the secondn he felt the touch

Shout out to a very strange pair indeed, as JoeTwerp and El Campeador are watching the match from the privacy of their hot tub. No confirmation as to whether the two are naked. Speculation is welcome.

42 minute

Ferguson with a long ball into the box and finds Johnson, but he's a step too far and the ball glances harmlessly off his foot.

Birmingham are really dominant in the air, been sending in crosses and high balls all game. Larsson goes down in the box after a challenge from Skrtel, but there's no foul and the resulting shot goes wide.

Though we're not playing that badly compared to the matches vs City and long stretches against WBA, we are basically 3 great saves from being 3 down, while the Torres foul was a stonewall pen.

Agreed, and the handball on Johnson should've been a pen imo.

One minute of Extra Time.

Glen fouls and Brum get a free-kick. Route one again but Johnson's header goes wide.

Half time. Pepe Reina is God.

I'd say we've slightly more possession but they've created way more clear cut chances. Brum are defending the centre very well, and we haven't been able to get the ball wide ourselves.

No doubt about that cork. In addition we've been subject to more aerial bombardment than London during the Blitz.

From the BBC: :wave

1643: Less than five minutes to go until half-time, and not much time for Liverpool to improve on this stat, courtesy of Infostrada Sports. Liverpool have scored only one first-half goal away from home in the Premier League in 2010. That was Fernando Torres' opener against Manchester United on March 21, a match which Liverpool lost 2-1

Could this be a good omen! :P.

Must be superstition. It couldn't possibly have anything to do with us being hopeless in front of goal

Konchesky gone missing far too often for my liking, tons of crosses from the right to find a Brum player in the box. He's done nothing to convince me on the defending side so far, although he's made a few good runs with Jova up front.

I agree. Now I'm not saying we shouldn't give him time to adjust but since he was allegedly bought for defensive stability and premier league experience. I'm not sold as of yet

Question to you and Aristotle;

If Raul Meireles plays, who out of Poulsen and Lucas do you play him with?

I've been very unimpressed with the Dane so far, though it's only been a few games he doesn't seem to offer anything Lucas doesn't, and Lucas usually does it better.  Neither are offering much service to the attacking 4, not helped by them spending half the match heading away Birmingham long balsl.  A change might be required to give one of our lads a clear goal scoring chance.

Lucas without a shadow of a doubt. Poulsen has been invisible for the past 45. I don't think he even touched the ball. Lucas is getting hammered because he's been in the middle of most of our attacks. For a supposed hardman Poulsen's doing fuck all to protect his teammates and put the fear of God in the enemy.

I wholeheartedly agree. I didn't exactly hide my opinions of him when we were in the midst of signing him. Now I'll support any player in a red shirt, but I am thoroughly unimpressed with him. For me he's nothing more then a older, slower version of Lucas. He has it in his favour that he is a hard man, but when Lucas is winning headers, fighting back and going into tackles more then him anyway. Plus winning more headers he is useless on his side. I'd play Meireles-Lucas over Meireles-Poulsen Jim.

And yes, I realise how incredibly shit that "joke" was ;D

Nice pass from Konchesky to Jehovanovic but his first touch is a bad one and back for goal kick. The gap between midfield and attack is still too wide.
