Motel
I was in there for Saturday's match.  Good vibes and decent ale.

Am in the city tonight and although I’ve got tickets for the screening at Anfield, the wind and thought of being sat in the cold isn’t appealing.

Anywhere in town that will have a good atmosphere with some singing and that?

Tried Motel the other week for the Bournemouth game, absolutely rammed, couldn't move or see a full screen, and the drinks are way overpriced. Won't be going again. Ended up going to The Crocodile, much better in there, cheaper and loads of tellys. Hadn't been in there for years, would recommend it.

Steer clear of McCooleys on Concert Square. Loads of screens but absolutely rammed for the game. For the derby it was uncomfortable and as more and more people arrive they just stand in front of people's line of sight

Me and a friend have got a couple of tickets for the Porto game and for a change have decided to book a hotel in town and make a full day and night of it......hopefully!
So we are in the Epic apartments on Seel street and would like some local advise on nice places to go for drinks / lunch and atmosphere before and after heading to Anfield.

Anyone give us some pointers.......????

Cheers
Tim

Head to the Sandon after the match and wait for the traffic to die down then get a lift back to Concert Square and go from there. Heebie Jeebies on Seel Street near your apartments is a decent bar/nightclub.  The Bierkeller at Liverpool One is alright for a day session few games of Pool and that.

On matchdays we always drink near the ground. But on Sunday (being last game of the season) we're getting into town a few hours early for a few drinks, then we'll head to the ground later on for the game.

Is there anywhere in town where the majority of reds fans drink before and after the game?

There's a decent one in town that was rammed yesterday. I don't know what the chances of the relevant authorities looking on here are, but I don't want to blow the place up because there isn't many left showing them. But I'll PM anyone who wants to know.

Considering it's a big thing in Germany that they do 'around the grounds' (like NFL Redzone) on a Saturday afternoon in all the pubs. It's madness it's still a thing here, given how many sides fill their grounds. Even the small clubs like L1 and L2 and Man City.

Probably another reason why pubs are dying out. If you can't/ don't go the game and your team isn't on the telly, why go out when you can watch it at home on your PC/ dodgy box?

Noticed the Roscoe Arms has been renamed and become a fancy resturant. Has it now ceased as a pub that shows matches? I've pencilled in a day in town on 5th March and noticed that Liverpool have a 5:30 kick off.

I had a horrific dump on Lannigans opposite central.

In some way I wanted to make amends and buy some beer, but I was at the end of the bar in a mad busy pub when an Irish lad known to the bar staff strolled over and got served ahead of 12,000 people waiting.

My need to make amends dropped 50% to 50%

I waited ten minutes while the 12,000 strong crowd dropped to around 11,982

Then an Irish girl known to the staff got served. Standing next to me.

My debt ratio dropped to 0% and I left the pub with a light heart and a light bum.

Thank you Lannigans. Really appreciate it and also massively appreciate you serving random Irish people over people that had been waiting yonks including serving them above actual scousers that live here.. But not me. I had a massive dump for free.

Yay!

Service in there has been shite as long as I've been drinking Andy, they're crap for prioritising or even asking 'who's next.' Not been in ages as a result.

If you're in need of a shit near the station, Rileys is equidistant between Lime St and Central and doesn't accost anyone who wanders in to drop their load.

Theres been somewhat of a global pandemic recently. People's habits have changed and this thread mainly seemed to be people mostly not from Liverpool asking for guidance.

Again with the pandemic people haven't been travelling in the same numbers.

People obviously do go out to watch the match

My favourite dump was actually on a golf course. I was absolutely bursting or bricking it, whatever the terminology is but was playing one of the outer holes, so no chance to get back to the clubhouse. Anyway I went into some nearby woods and found a lovely secluded spot, jettisoned the load and covered it using my Sand Wedge! Absolute heaven, it was such a relief. One of my proudest and most satisfying moments!
