Surely the goal couldn't have been given because Taylor blew the whistle? Complete joke from Taylor but can't see how Gakpo putting it in would have made a difference
It would’ve made PGMOL try and come up with a reason why the Manc c*nt blew his whistle.

He would have disallowed it and booked him. But if I'm Gakpo I'm putting it in anyway. At least then the onus is on the ref, but we'll never know now because he didn't put it in.

Cheating from Taylor to save face because he clearly never blew the whistle.

I'm enjoying snooker more than footy atm. I've never seen a snooker ref call a fictional foul when someone is playing frame ball.

He does, just as Cody gets to the ball he blows it like a schoolteacher stopping a fight in the playground

TNT decided not to address the elephant in the room? Possibly the worst refereeing decision I've ever seen, and it isn't even a discussion. Feel like the world has gone mad.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the PGMOL started giving them stage names and wacky outfits. They're loving the attention.

One way to stop things looking so fucking dodgy is to ban referees from Manchester referring us.

All these lads who grew up in Manchester in the 90s during peak Ferguson years who conveniently randomly support Bury and Alttincham…

Except he'd already signaled play on. So fuck knows what he's blown for, unless as I suspect, he's just blown by mistake in a panic because he's a hopelessly shit ref.
Then he tells the keeper to act hurt to cover for it, it's just beyond bad.

That’s what I mean, he’s not blown for a foul or stopped play for any reason before the keeper throws the ball down. He then blows to stop Gakpo scoring and to save his blushes. It’s a massive, massive error that no matter how bad we were has robbed us of 2 points.

On the Swedish broadcast it was the big talking point. Came to the conclusion that Taylor made a big mistake then tried to save phase in an embarrasing way.

Not even trying to hide it at this point.

On seeing Gakpo run in to score, Taylor's impulse is to blow the whistle. That impulse being to stop Liverpool scoring. Why he has that impulse is up for debate, but it's beyond doubt he has a bias when it comes to Liverpool. His second instinct is to think "shit, how am I going to explain this...I know, I'll tell him to fake an injury".

There's no "mistake" at play here.

I thinking that is the most blatant one so far, even more than the offside.

You can't explain this one away at all, not even with some bullshit, you literally see Taylor telling the keeper to fake an injury.

If there is nothing from the club on this why the fuck are we even bothering?

I missed the game and only saw that clip posted by Rob above. So, the keeper has not been fouled, and it is NOT a free kick? But he throws the ball down because he thinks a free kick has been awarded but is incorrect?

If that's the case then Gakpo would be entitled to score there. What am I missing?

they just keep getting away with it so they can do what they like?

why is taylor leaving that ground in one piece after that.

thats another 2 points taken from us today to go along with the City game and at least one from the spurs game. All from decisions that are far from just genuine mistakes.

You don't even need the mic on this one, that's why he's fucked, you can literally mouth read him very easily telling the goalkeeper to go down, he tells him twice until he does.

Absolutely incredible.

The fact that PGMOL/PL have been able to influence the media in the way they talk about refs is crazy too. Like absolutely insane. Look at the reaction to the spurs incident in the immediate aftermath: Sky, BBC etc al all up in arms demanding action and answers. 24 hours later Liverpool are told to pipe down by the same broadcasters for taking it too far and how these things even themselves up over the year. They did the same to Arsenal when they raised the issue and Forest last week.

Rather than demanding improvement in refereeing standards to make the "product" better, they get the broadcasters to gaslight everyone into silence so it'll blow over. Works every time too. Clubs need to absolutely pull together at the end of the season and release a joint statement calling for improvement or for the disbanding of PGMOL to start again. Lower league clubs would join in as well because believe it or not they get even crapper refs than the PL does. Everyone knows the bar for performance in so low it's in danger of coming out the other side of the planet.

The keeper’s made a daft mistake and the ref has bailed him out as he, presumably, thought that that would be way too unfair to punish him.

The thing is that’s not his decision. That sort of thing doesn’t happen in any other sport. A batter loses his bearings on 99, fails to make his ground and is run out or stumped doesn’t get let off because “he thought he was in”. A golfer doesn’t get let off for accidentally leaving an extra club in his bag in the final round of a tournament he was leading.

Rules are rules, the ref can’t pick and choose on whether to enforce them based on how daft a player might look afterwards.

And that right there is corruption. Its like the ref blowing the whistle after Darwin charged down the clearance v Sheff Utd, it'd be outright cheating if he'd done that.
