He needed that semi-final run tonight, as it looked like he could've potentially dipped under 44 seconds then.
Agreed.

Kerr’s kick for the 1500m was so impressive, brilliant focused closing in the final 200m/300m. Ingebrigtsen might be the most talented 1500m runner but he doesn’t always play his tactics right and there’s certainly a few runners that can out-kick him if he hasn’t built the distance going into the final straight.

Insane that one small UK running club has produced two elite world champions inside a year. Fair play to them.

You’ve probably seen it, but saw a photo of the two of them in their running club vests aged about 14. Mad that they are both now World Champions.

It’s insane. It does go back to the old running adage though that you’ll never be your best unless you’re training with someone better than you. Having elite competition is huge.

Of course I’m as close to their level as I am to a Premier League footballer’s, but at 5km I was stuck at 19:00 for about two years. Anecdotally, A friend of mine who has ran Cross Country for GB moved back to the North West after giving up the ghost of making a living running. Training with him to his plans (this guy can run a sub-4 mile and has done 5km sub 13:30 (on a track) just drove me way more than I could alone and chasing his shadow - or doing a training session based around preventing him from lapping me - improved me more in 6 months than I’d been able to do in 2 years. Went 17:12 after an intense few months with him.

I wish athletics got wider attention and respect, these people are literally super-human.

Agree. People are put off by athletics clubs as they think they are full of olympic standard athletes. Honestly get down and train with your lical club if you want to reduce your park run time etc. All of a sudden youll be hitting 10k and half marathons. Our club has 4 different groups that hit the road so it doesn't matter how fit you are therell be someone you can run with. Plus its good socially.

Prefer running with me headphones in and actively avoiding other people. Admittedly, the times I run with someone else is easier in terms of not constantly thinking about distances and timings in your head.

100%. We have 5 different ability groups at our club and a wide range of people attend. Sometimes if I want to do a longer run but not worry about the pace I’ll join another group and just enjoy it rather than worry about splits and segments etc.

Like Nick has said above too, a 10 mile run feels a lot less like 10 miles when you’ve someone to talk to.

Agree on the social aspect, our club has the odd night out and will often put on a minibus to various different Parkruns so that you get to run in different environments etc. We did Ludlow a few weeks back (admittedly a horribly early start to be on the road by 06:00) and it was a stunning forest environment to run in.

Shericka Jackson ran that 200m like a motherfucker. Just 0.07 seconds off Flo-Jo's incredibly dodgy WR.

Brilliant that from Pattison!

He only made the final as a fastest loser and now he's a World Championship medallist. Great stuff.

Both 4x100 relays coming up. You’d think the women in particular must have a decent medal shout.

USA women disqualified from the 4x400 earlier, should open it up a lot.

Great race, frigging hell. Brilliant.

I can imagine Nick out tomorra on one his easy jogs, water bottle in one hand, iPhone in the other with his head obscured by some huge headphones, shorts up by his bollocks Johny Barnes style pretending he's a 5000k champion.

No Asher-Smith. That’s a big blow.

Looked like Hughes was heading out for the first or second leg there.

Didn't really impose herself on the race, still only 21 though, has a great chance in the Olympics next year.
