Bravo: £17m

Otamendi: £34m
Mendy: £52m
Walker: £50m
Fernandinho: £34m
De Bruyne: £55m
Gundogan: £20m
Sterling: £50m
Bernardo Silva: £45m
Aguero: £15m

Total: £422m

Liverpool Starting XI: £349m.

(He's actually doing them a favour too, I think Aguero cost a lot more than 15 mill!)
All signed pre-Neymar to PSG transfer.  The same transfers in the current market would all be not far off double or more.

Their record signings are Rodrigo, Mahrez and Cancelo (all post Neymar) - none of them would get in Man City's strongest team.  In the current market even Man City couldn't afford to sign that squad.

I wonder, do Man United go on like this every time they go to West Ham?

WHU 'fans' absolutely wrecked their team bus not too long ago in an incident far more serious and sinister than anything that happened at Anfield, yet you never seem to hear this ridiculous hysteria from them.

You are right, of course. They are six points behind and rattled. They need to shift the narrative and focus around LFC towards the negative. It's a carefully crafted ploy on their part. They actually want something to happen, and are setting the scene to promote it happening. One tit throws a bottle and the media make out it was the apocolypse all over again. Public opinion and sympathy gets behind Abu Dhabi in their push for the title over those 'nasty scousers'.

To any potential trouble makers out there; you are being set up as useful idiots for the Abu Dhabi cause. DON'T FALL FOR IT!!

It is bizarre.

I think the fan element of it is probably to be expected, especially when you’re getting your basis of their opinions from the Internet. Honestly if we went to the Ethiad and our bus got smashed up, there’d doubtless be tonnes on here screaming blue murder for years as well.

If City had won that game, or even that tie, you’d hear about it far less. They swaggered into Anfield much like Mourinho’s Chelsea did in 05 and unlike that Chelsea team, got absolutely embarrassed. It’s in their interests to shift the narrative onto the bus incident rather than focus on City getting tactically out thought and physically out played.

What I will say though is that our own manager made clear at the time how disappointed he was by the whole incident and has repeated that recently, that should be enough to make people not repeat the same, rather than anything City are trying to conjure up.

My own opinion is that all involved, Klopp included, have made more of quite a predictable event happening when City drive their bus through a load of hyped up, half pissed fans, especially when you consider the Manchester/Liverpool element. But at the end of the day it’s not for me or anyone else to say that, the manager of the club has spoken and hopefully people listen.

That is true from a net spend perspective. :)

Tweets like that just go to show though - they don't just want to be supported, they want to be worshipped.  I mean, greatest team in PL history?  Really?  Think Alex Ferguson might have something to say about that.

Ferguson won the title in some cases with a shit team and sheer force of will - that's what makes their achievements so remarkable.  Is this guy honestly trying to suggest the team City might field is shit?

Nah, let’s face the facts - it’s Wenger’s PL titles that are the most impressive in England bar Leicester.

The shrewd acquisitions and the ability to do it without spending the ridiculous amounts Ferguson did make his league titles count more than the Man Utd ones. And then there’s the football they played.

I thought that Ferguson's last title was the most remarkable, for how many times they managed to get wins from losing positions, and for doing it despite the shit teams he fielded and how shit they played (and this was apparent even at the time). That wasn't Man Utd winning the league. That was Ferguson winning the league.

“It goes back much further than this. Roy Evans used to offer to take the oppo team sheets to the ref in the early 70's. He'd scribble 'End' after Colin Bell's name whenever City came to Anfield. How Clive Thomas laughed, and rewarded us with pennos“

A true underdog story.

https://twitter.com/Komps4/status/1192366108789166080?s=19

This shit is unbelievable, even for them. I noticed even some of the sounder City fans like David Mooney on TAW were peddling this 'huge underdogs' shite.

They're doing the thing spurs did for years and talking about a couple of injuries as a "crisis". Out of any players they have injured, the only ones who'd be starters are Ederson, Laporte and, at a push, Rodri, though I honestly could see him struggling against us. Ederson will probably play anyway because Pep is tiresomely mind-gaming us.

They're talking like they have to throw a ragball outfit of free transfers and kids onto the pitch to play us, when in fact it's still one of the most expensively-assembled sides in history. Fuck off.

But very few Clubs have players and staff that would sing a song about a fan getting attacked after wining the league.

The other lot sung without killing anyone after beating Chelsea in Moscow. Classless c*nts across both clubs in Manchester.

These are a right bunch of fucking tarts. Not saying its right, but Utd had cups of tea lashed at them, Gary Neville got dogs about shagging his ma up the shitter and this lot moan that a buzzer might not have worked?

Just admit it, you're fucking terrified of going into a stadium with real supporters, a real atmosphere, against a manager who has the measure of yours and a team who are not scared of you.

I think I may have started all this, when Oasis played Maine Rd back in April 1996, My mate took the knock and we found ourselves in the home dressing room which was being used for first aid . Anyway, as he was recovering and we were left alone, I took a look at the tactics whiteboard they had in there, then took the marker and wrote Going Down in great big letters across it before flipping it over so no one would see until it was time to use it, anyway, I often dream about the look on their grids a few days later when the team were sat there and the board was righted ahead of their final game of the season. Needless to say, I was proved correct and Oasis were to blame.

Amazing isn't it. The club is owned by tyranical torturers, but everyone attached to them seem to be such incredibly delicate little flowers revelling in victim status.

What never came out at the time was that Guardiola first visited this place to start redesigning it to his tastes during the international break of March 2016, under the codename of “The German”, when he was still in charge of Bayern Munich and Manuel Pellegrini, the then Manchester City manager, was conveniently absent.

They seem reasonably settled in Manchester, where it is not necessarily the weather that bothers them but the amount of litter on the streets and, above all, the homelessness.

OK, serious question.

If Manchester City met PSG in the Champions League now, would they be all “Hello to our French brothers and sisters, fellow disruptors of the status quo and enemies of the cartel!”

Or would they be all “Hello, perfectly normal football team like us, whose sudden and perfectly normal gigantic wealth is completely irrelevant to the fact they can suddenly afford players like Neymar"?
