Nunez looks lively. It’s all a bit tepid from us otherwise, the odd moment but no sustained pressure.

Borefest of a first half... Still think we will win 4-0 though.. Believe!  ;D

The plan is probably to make it to the 60th minute at 0-0 to make Carlo feel save from another Istanbul and let his guard down then boom four unanswered goals to go through. Genius move by Klopp...

Madrid play acting when thy have a 3 goal advantage the gang of c*nt's.

All that - and carvahal [I think] taking the boot off in that half was the peak of it imo - is part of playing Real Madrid. These aren't idiots with ideas above their station like man united, they care about 1 thing - winning - and they don't care how they go about it.
3 midfielders minimum in the next window. And probably another young CB to boot.

Anything else is negligent.

Why is this fish lipped c*nt allowed to work on a match featuring us? He's shown his disgrace bias this week in his comments and he's also a monotone drug cheat who's proven to have the opinion of a circus clown.

Also I miss the old Fabinho, the current one turns away to look for an easy pass without pressure. What happened to him?

That’s the whole team mate, fuck all confidence through the team, every pass and look is safety first.

We are being careful with it because Madrid are deadly if you turn it over.

I take your point but i just think it's more down to our lot looking like a bunch of strangers out there.
Never seen him playing I think. But looks like a good player.

Our corners are generally awful. Given Robertson and Trent's crossing ability it's crazy how often they fail to beat the first man.
even though he’s tall and you want him in the box. Gakpo is a very good set piece taker.

0-0 would be fine in the first leg away from home.

Really though Alisson has had to produce two wonder saves to keep us level. Madrid haven't got out of first gear and when they do they just pass the ball round us for fun. Think that last minute where Trent overlaps Salah and puts an aimless cross in and then from the subsequent (bad) corner the ball works it's way to Robbo who floats it back in and Van Dijk can't even be arsed jumping for the ball sums up our mentality. It's like there's just that ah well never mind eh mentality
They came out with all guns blazing in the first 20 but they can't maintain it for long periods.

Can we stick him through the middle at least. Buy a striker for a record price and stick him out on the left wing

We need a gnarly challenge and something to get the boys in red fired up and ready to go.

Real Madrids tactics are to time waste for the most part but they have the quality to put us to the sword. The good thing is they’ve not and that might play a doubter in Real Madrids mind but we need to score. Just get 1 goal and who knows. Also need to be a lot more braver as well… show some braveness, just something, just a spark is what’s needed. Spark or… Chaos. Something madness needs to happen second half

Real look bored at times. Has the feeling of an exhibition game or pre season friendly with two teams trying to find fitness. Jota just looks uninterested.

He's currently being a one man midfield, it's harsh to criticize him tonight.
I’ve plenty links to the clubs playing and backroom staff as many on here know thank you very much. Fair enough, I admire your optimism. But you’re absolute ostriches if you think this squad, even with 2 or 3 new, “cut price” players with potential get us anywhere close

Alisson has been incredible. Doesn't get enough credit.

Wasn't this not too long after he said we needed to be patient and not take risks...

It's like we would never ever score even if we are gifted with hundred corners in the second half.

Practicing it properly would be a good start.

I don’t think having Jota in midfield is working. Gakpo, Salah and Nunez are all capable of scoring but we need to take midfield by the scruff of the neck.

Refs a incompetent moron, two completely uncontrollee challenges by them, several other situations where he is just useless.

That being said, Real look in complete control on cruise control. Their technical ability and passing is unlike anything we are capable of. Its the difference in composure and precision with the ball. And its something they have show in all games against us, still we deserved to win the final last year but for a masterclass from Courtois. They have looked poor in the league so far, found lacking alot but they can perform when the motivation is there and these guys live for this competition.

I know anything can happen in football, but not like this. If we had these games this season where we just looked insane with our press then maybe there could be a chance but we dont have that in us now. Understandably with injuries and an ageing squad. Lets hope we can get back to it when we renew a bit more.

Neither team look assed.  We're not good enough to create goals and Real Madrid aren't motivated enough with their 3 goal advantage.

A really good performance for a team defending a lead from the first leg away from home. Not really good enough for a team needing to win by 3 goals just to take it to extra time.

Ref's an idiot but we're also letting Madrid get what they want from the ref. I hate teams who constantly crowd the ref but someone needs to have a word!

9 shots apiece, some amazing saves and the bar being struck suggests otherwise.

Nunez through the middle, Jota off. Nunez will run in behind time and again and they're leaving gaps.

Jota only recently back from injury so fair enough but he doesn't look like scoring at all

Was the Jota offside checked by VAR, cos it was a stonewall pen if its on?

I wanted to see a replay on that. Looked like it deflected to him off a Madrid player.

Problem is thd lino waved immediately (funny that) and the ref blew the whistle  before the foul.
So even if he turned out to be onside, play had technically stopped.
Meanwhile, all RM mile offsides have been allowed to play out.
Ref is a complete homer too.

I think it's natural for the players to be a bit hesitant. No matter what the plan is and Klopp has said, you don't want to get embarrassed and the lose the tie in the first half. I have been saying we should go out all guns blazing but as soon as the game started I was just desperate not to concede.

Hopefully we can come out firing 2nd half. But does look like they just have too much quality for us right now.

Liverpool need to score at least 3 goals though. There's no way that's happening against this Madrid side without taking some risks.

If we're going to play four attackers, we need to take some risks and try to get the ball up to them quicker. They've had the ball out wide a few times, but not much in the middle. I'm not sure I could say what Jota's role is supposed to be.
