Bowyer linked in £15M summer move to Kop
« on: March 23, 2002, 10:04:34 am »
Reports today suggest (again) that Lee Bowyer may sign for us in the summer.

Not entirely comfortable about this although I concede that it would be good for the playeers career. Ged would soon knock the spice boy side out of him and the team would ultimately benefit. Fans would need winning over though.

:)

For that amount of money we can also buy a half decent player, I think.   ::) :P

Certainly hope this is nothing more than the usual shit than comes out of the press.

Bowyer may be a talented player, but as a person, he is a wanker & a twat, whom i have totally no respect for.  A person like Bowyer does not deserve the privilege to play for Liverpool.

NO!

I don't want him at LFC! If we are signing Anelka for some 15M, I very much doubt that we'll go for Bowyer too. Out of the two,  Anelka would be my pick.

Very mixed feelings about this, an absolute wanker. But he'd fit in well on the right. But I still don't want him.

Daily Mail reports suggest that he has met both Sammy Lee and Thommo in a hotel in Wales, however these rumours and vhemently denied by the club: http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N134192020323-1345.htm

Quote: "Reds slam Bowyer rumours"

I seem to remember them "slamming" rumours of Fowler going to Leeds only days before his departure.

All the same, for the 15m quoted price we can get a far better player. We don't need him for midfield, we have many players superior in quality to him. And if we were to buy him, never mind the fans' reactions, what about the players? I daresay that they wouldn't be all too impressed with it either.

All in all, he's not a player that we'd want. I'm not entirely sure if he's human...he's an animal. I'd rather marry a Blue before seeing him in Liverpool red. Houllier may be able to calm him down somewhat..great, good for him if he can, but he reputation will follow him everywhere, and just because he would be playing for us, it doesn't mean that he would change.

Although, I suppose that if we were to purchase Anelka from PSG...and it's on player for player...we could buy Bowyer and send him to them? It'd be the fastest transfer in history! In the front door and out the back ;)

The Daily Mail, at it again.

Why just have 48 pages when you can have twice as many full of garbage.

Like the nasty wee shite would improve the team and the cameraderie in a multi-national, multi-ethnic set-up.

Piss off.

PS. Well done, Steve McLaren.

Mind you, it's unusual for a club to get Solicitors involved...

Quote
Liverpool Football Club have acted quickly to deny any talk of a meeting with Lee Bowyer and have put the matter in the hands of our solicitors.

A statement from Liverpool Football Club reads:

"Under normal circumstances the club does not comment on transfer speculation but a number of stories in today's newspaper regarding Lee Bowyer have made suggestions that members of our coaching staff have met the player. Contrary to those reports, neither Phil Thompson or Sammy Lee have ever met privately with the player. In addition, the club categorically denies that any meeting has ever taken place with the player or his representatives.

The matter has now been placed in the hands of our solicitors."

For what it's worth I don't want him here!

"Mind you, it's unusual for a club to get Solicitors involved... "

Defamation of the club's name, maybe?  :)

everyone deserves a second chance, but he has done nothing to suggest he will change.

i think his agent knows that bowyer's days at leeds are numbered, and is trying to stir up interest by linking him with a top 8 european club (  ;D ).
