Rick Parry set to leave Liverpool Football Club
Feb 27 2009 World Exclusive By Tony Barrett

Rick Parry Image 2

RICK Parry is set to leave Liverpool Football Club.

The ECHO understands Parry’s departure by mutual consent will be officially announced by Liverpool later today.

The long serving chief executive will not leave with immediate effect though with all parties in agreement that he will remain in position until the end of the current season.

Speculation will inevitably surface suggesting Parry has lost a power struggle with Reds boss Rafa Benitez but the ECHO understands the real reason for his power is an acknowledgement that his relationship with Tom Hicks is unworkable.

As yet, there are no indications about who will replace Parry when his time at the club comes to an end.

Is right.

Why let him hang around though?

Brian Barwick?

Brian Barwick is apparently getting a role at the club, head of communications or something.

Replacement for Parry?

Been coming for a while... Nevertheless :o  1-0 Hicks. Although, Gillett and Parry not getting along as they once were is probably a factor.

Whispers were right then about big news today. Hopefully :D

Not going to put the boot in. Hopefully this will result in sufficient changes being made for Rafa's contract to be sorted out. Manager, players, fans. Suits are there to sign the cheques.

Now I find myself worrying about the boardroom 'balance' issue for some fucked up reason  ???

I'm not going to jump for joy just yet. Yes, Parry's ineffective and self serving but let's see how this shifts the power in the club...

Not sure what to make of this. If Moores goes now, we can be sure that the debt will be loaded completely onto the club as there will be no opposition to this on the board.

This has been coming for some time.....I hope this signals a brighter future for us.

I just hope that Hicks does not now see his power become greater by putting in another 'Yes man' we need a strong man who can take on both the Yanks and keep an eye on the running of the club and work with Raifa.....oooops sorry Rafa.

Parry should of had the dignity to fall on his own sword a long time ago. Dien has to be the replacment, he can be the all important guiding light for Rafa.

I hope he is taking freddy boswell with him aswell, good thing about it is a major victory for rafa, bad news is they can lump all the debt on the club now.

Or the decks are being cleared for a new owner.

But how does this leave the whole boardroom issue? I mean its absolutely no victory if Hicks gets greater control of the club. it also removes some of the continuity within the club, leaving it open to a total US makeover.

Also, I like Rafa, but giving one man too much power in the club is not a positive I reckon.

Tony Evans
Liverpool will announce today that Rick Parry will leave the club at the end of the season.

The chief executive, who has been embroiled in a power struggle with Rafael Benitez, will depart from Anfield, which will represent a massive victory for the manager.

Parry has been negotiating a payoff for the past few weeks.

This development comes at the end of a fraught week for the club during which rumours have circulated that the manager had been dismissed. Benitez has emerged stronger after the Champions League victory over Real Madrid on Wednesday, but the painful politics of Liverpool mean that even today's development does not make the manager's situation palpably clearer.

Parry was known to be an ally of George Gillett Jr, the club's co-owner, but the pair are believed to have fallen out over the stories that surfaced on Wednesday suggesting that Benitez was about to leave the club.

Gillett has found no buyer for his 50 per cent stake, but this latest development opens the door to a change of ownership at Anfield because the co-owner has lost his last ally at the club.

Thought Hicks already brought in somebody from Arsenal to look after our commercial end , so leave Rafa to the transfers .. and that leaves nobody to replace parry ?
Concerned about it strengthening HIcks standing ?
