It's not media or arts, but I heard so many people raving about Tim Hortons. Tried it yesterday, it was shite. Extremely overrated like most American brands.
Never tried it myself, but did you go a UK one? I tend to think Fast Food Brands don't travel well outside of the states - see the poor excuse for Taco Bell we have over here (Jollibee's not great outside of one or two menu items).

Have tried over the last month or so to watch the dark night trilogy because everyone at work raves about it.

Its taken me just over 3 weeks to watch the dark night but i just keep falling asleep through it, finally finished it last night, what the fuck is that all about?

Must be aimed at the younger generation, think it is essentially a kiddie film or a hipster film just because its Nolan its got to be a masterpiece.

Without doubt the single biggest piece of shite iv ever watched, just didnt make sense at all.

Garbage.

Just seeing that top 10 charts list a page back. I see it's still the Ed Sheeran top 10. Same as a couple years ago when I last had a squint, then.

I don't mind the fella. Seems like a nice enough lad. Contrary to what most say here, he's not really overrated, because compared to the majority of talentless tossers that fill the mainstream chart music, you can actually understand why he's at the top of a very drab lot. Ditto for Adele. It's just the fact that Sheeran seems to be absolutely everywhere, and case in point about the lack of talent, he actually has to help out a load of frauds like Bieber etc etc with his writing talent to sort them out. If Sheeran had have arrived in the 80's or 90's, he'd just be another busker down the local high street.

100%. I was really into it for the first 2-3 seasons. Then I realised it´s crap, and I love fantasy stuff. Shitty dialouge, shitty acting, storylines that go nowhere, or else storylines sped along for TV purposes as to make them non-senescal.

Never even watched the last series, and have zero desire to, despite putting in the time to watch the first 7 series (and not really enjoying the last 4 of those). By the end it was just a hype machine with little substance. There was some "epic" moments - but just as many moments that were actively rubbish.

Still think the first series is decent mind you.

My god, imagine watching 4 seasons of a series after realizing that it was crap, you must be some kind of masochist. Though I must say, I find it funny that people who can't spell the word dialogue, or a coherent sentence for that matter, talk about shit dialogue. Not the best judge of good writing one would think.

Ed Sheeran is shite, he's a popified commercially agreeable version of the far, far superior songwriter Damien Rice. Sheeran literally wishes he was as talented. What he's good at is writing formulaic tunes that he doesn't give a shit about but knows hit certain points on a songwriting matrix that guarantees they'll chart highly and sell well.

When he was up and coming, he wrote some decent tunes - A Team etc, but he's gone more and more predictable and is now just a money-making exercise.
Sounds like you described Chris Martin as well mid 00's onwards.

And you wouldn't be wrong. I'm sure Martin did an interview recently where he stated that some software was writing the bulk of their new material and he's more interested in adapting his performances of these to be the 'true art,' rather than the song or some shite like that. It sounded like satire but was actually him saying it.

Agreed, it was like a fantasy Sopranos for a good 4 seasons I'd say before it slowly diminished into a shit heap. Was brilliant watching at it's finest, but when it outpaced the source material we saw that the show runners were almost definitely not as good as they'd given themselves credit for in the previous few years.

I'm one of many who stayed with it though, in hope more than in actual belief. It's rare I'll bin off series once I've put some decent time into them, but there's been a few; Prison Break, Better Call Saul, Lost, Sons Of Anarchy etc.

Not really, I just find it fascinating how cocksure some people are about things they clearly don't understand. I mean the acting and writing of this show were pretty much universally praised for the first 5-6 seasons, but sure, let's take some writing lessons from a person who writes this type of sentence: "or else storylines sped along for TV purposes as to make them non-senescal."

1st 3 albums were fab when they were that "Indie" band, then they conquered the States and wanted that worldwide Stadium tour money that U2/Rolling Stones get, then the songs got all cheesy, happy, jolly and poppy with catchy choruses and riding that gravy train full of stadium tour money.

But the consolation is, Coldplay did what the Gallaghers wanted so badly and never got close to doing across the Pond, must really grate on Noel especially. :D

Give me Radiohead and Tool any day of the week, 2 amazing bands who stick 2 fingers up at commercialism of the music industry and do it on their terms.

You're going to have to justify this at least. Citizen Kane practically invented modern cinema and the performances and dialogue are up there with anything.

All valid points.

I think that it's a difficult film to watch and enjoy, by today's standards. Only on my 3rd or 4th attempt did I manage to make it all the way through.

I think Citizen Kane is overrated, it’s not even Orson Welles best film.  Yes, its innovative, yes, its technically impressive, but its dull and lacks humanity.  The Magnificent Ambersons is a mess (even the recently released Criterion bluray) but it has so much more heart than Citizen Kane, Touch Of Evil is his best film in my opinion.  Portrays humans at their worst, darkly cynical in a gleeful way.

Magnificent Ambersons in its released form is garbage, a treacly mess without a single interesting, let alone engaging character. Touch of Evil is terrific but it's essentially Welles' take on the film noir - essentially a depiction of humans at their worst - it's hardly full of heart! Saying Citizen Kane lacks humanity is a crazy take, the central character is so fleshed out and the people around him and their reactions all feel real, rather than a one-dimensional trope. The way Dorothy Comingore delivers the line: "What about me?" in this second scene is heartbreaking:

Edgar Wright, somewhat. I did enjoy Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, though I hardly think they are some kind of masterpieces. But most of his other films just annoy the heck out of me, with its irritating focus on visual flair and fast editing, like some kind of arthouse infused Guy Ritchie. Mostly I just don't find them really funny, entertaining yes, but not funny.
