Liverpool FC Forum / Re: Are you enjoying it?

Struggling to remember a worse week in at least the last five seasons.  I'm sure there probably have been, but this feels especially bleak after the fiasco at OT.  That one really hurt and I hate to say, but it looks like the team hasn't gotten over that match any better than I have.
How about the week after then?
All in all feels deflating but if you'd said at the beginning of the season, challenge for the title and CL plus silverware, most of us would have taken it.

Liverpool FC Forum / Re: Darwin Núñez (Darwin Gabriel Núñez Ribeiro)

I did say they win the ball high up the pitch a lot. I personally wouldn't trust Nunez's decision making when we do.

Secondly, Haaland will probably be Premier League top scorer two seasons in a row. If Nunez was hitting those numbers nobody would care if the ball came off his shins in the build-up.

And I dare someone to say Haaland gets more chances  ::)

The thing is you don't trust Nunez to do anything. You don't trust him to lead our attack, you don't trust him to counter attack and you don't trust him against a low block.

The thing is the stats don't back that up. For his two seasons at Liverpool he has been pretty much bang on a League goal every 180 minutes. So a goal every other game if he played the full 90 every week. So around 19 League goals per season despite not being a regular penalty taker for us.

At Benfica in his second season he scored a League goal every 76 minutes which is prolific.

So from the age of 21-24 he has scored a League goal every 123 minutes. So if he played 90 minutes in every game he would average out at just under 28 League goals per season from the age of 21-24.

Amazing how a player you wouldn't trust to play in an under 9's 5 a side has a record like that?

Our first signing could be Geertruida of wait for it...Feyenoord.  ;D

And I for one would be very okay with this. Plays RB, RCB, LCB. Strong in duels, good on the ball, mean look when he plays, and for you hipsters, looks comfortable in central areas when he is needed to invert.

Has played for Slot (obvs), has played with VVD & Gakpo.

I'm on board.

It is baffling. I am baffled.

Rob Galloway
@DrRobgalloway
Dan Poulter was an ex junior dr of mine and literally brought in every policy that has destroyed the NHS

He is joining  the Labour Party so that post election he can be a medical advisor to the next Labour government.

It worries me what advice  he will give

@Keir_Starmer
 if you want a passionately pro  nhs doctor I'd be happy to advise.

I've also  spent my career trying to help the nhs not destroy it.

Politicians who swap parties, particularly to parties that are (in theory anyway) ideologically opposed, are among the lowest of the low. Zero principles whatsoever, driven entirely by self interest. Pretty shameful that someone who was happy to vote through Tory policies for the last 14 years is now welcome in the Labour party.

I’d agree to a degree in that a rat is a rat, if they can do it to someone else they can do it to you. Now I know nothing of Dr Galloway, but I do find it slightly ironic that he’s accusing Poulter of jumping ship because he wants a job, and in the very same post Galloway is himself offering his services.

Shall we buy Bowen?
Well, you can't beat a bit of bully. 🎯

I’d still go for Bruno Guimarães. Think him and Mac in a midfield two would work well, similar to what we saw with Mac and Endo at times this season.

That's not uncommon, John. I see Mallards quite regularly at Crosby Marina and the beach between Blundellsands and Hightown.

Nice Mandarin duck there, Rob. I've seen one or two on Sefton Park lake in the past. The males are like a work of art. The females are dowdy in comparison.

Again, the media is half the problem. Wasn't even mentioned anywhere that I can see.

BBC and the Manchester Guardian both completely ignored it.

Geertruida does look interesting. If we signed him it wouldn’t be because Slot is the new boss, just because he has a good stats profile. Just as likely he goes to West Ham mind - or was just on a trip to London given Feyenoord don’t play again till next weekend.

Geertruida is a VERY interesting player to me. Saw him play for Holland last summer and he stood out to me with his aggressive defensive actions, very good on the ball, & athletic. Has that mean look on his face which I oddly like, that no-nonsense look.

He is a very versatile player, something Edwards, if memory serves, liked in the players he targeted (Sadio, Gini, Nkunku).

In Feyenoord's last game vs GAE, he played as right back, but inverted into midfield during build-up. I didn't remember him, but I was thinking to myself, "this number 4 midfielder is quite good at escaping pressure, on the turn, incise passing." I then look him up & he's the RB.

I like the player. I hope this link has legs.
