Sterling penalty dive vs Fulham - https://streamable.com/ij9edy - 40 seconds in is likely the best / clearest angle. & https://streamja.com/qVwq0

Sorry but you absolutely can complain. IF there is contact then hes grazed him, it isnt a reason to go down. Im all for players going down easily as the refs are shit however he's barely touched him...that's a shocking dive and it needs calling out.

So Raheem Sterling has now won more penalties than any other player in PL history (20). He's only 25.

Wonder how many were dives? Oh wait that's right he's English...

Impressive list when MOTD put that up.

Sterling, Vardy, Zaha and Shearer I think.

Foreign players are the problem though

Their goals have dried up.

Their top scorer is Mahrez with 4 league goals, and 3 of those came against Burnley. He's the only City player in the Premier League top 25 goalscorers so far. Usually at this stage they'd also have Sterling, De Bruyne, and Aguero on about 5-6 each.

I get the impression its all about KDB or Sterling creating a bit of magic for them and if they don't turn up, they struggle for inspiration. Is that harsh?

So the way Pep has stabilized them is they play with a double pivot and reserved FB's, Walker stays back and Cancelo tucks into midfield, so it's basically 6 back and only attacking with 4.  They aren't giving up any clear chances doing this and if they can keep De Bruyne healthy seemingly will create enough chances for this to work.  As we saw today and against us it's a terribly boring way to play when it's not creating anything but since they're not getting torn up on the counter then Pep figures it's fine.

I noticed Rodolfo Borrell sorting out the tactics with Pep at half time yesterday, what's his role now? I thought they'd appointed a new assistant this season?

I think its the right way forward for City.
They were the away team yesterday and will be quite ok with the draw.
Over the course of a season, they will always score enough goals, given the quality of the (at least) 4 attacking players they can field on the pitch. Against most opposition this is fine, will win them games and make them more solid.

Weird seeing Guardiola turn ever so slightly into Mourinho though. What a time to be alive.

Every team above them have scored more goals (and quite a few below them as well), so this isn't just a blip season or a few dodgy results that have affected their goal difference - they're just not scoring at the rate of previous seasons. A GD of +6 after 11 games is embarrassing after what they've spent. Ok, so ours might only be +9, but 7 of the 17 we've conceded came in one game.

After match week 11 last season they'd scored 34 goals already and were on +24. At the same time in 2018/19 they were on +29, and in 2017/18 it was a whopping +38.

This season they've scored 17, so their goals per game average thus far has halved compared to the last 3 seasons. It's not just Aguero being out - their chance creation and conversion has fallen off a cliff.

Scored 5 against Burnley too. So in the other 11 games they have scored 12.

Toward the end it was like the Olympics. Gundogan dived for a free kick, Sterling dived for a free kick, and still nothing came from that despite De Bruyne's fantastic delivery.

Dead man walking.
Shame with the Barca boys in the boardroom he will be allowed to walk for as long as he wants, completely smearing his legacy.

So much wrong about tonight, so much wrong about the last 18 months but pointless to dwell with. 6 months of damage control and we go again next summer
