Rafa says Aurelio has an adductor injury- that kept Torres out for two weeks, no? Poor guy to have to go off in another CL game. But this is always the concern with Aurelio, talented but either unlucky or injury prone. Now no choice but to move for another LB next year even if we have Insua coming through.

Just another freak turn, by the looks of it. He was lasting well as well. Beaten his records of three games on a run by quite a substantial number...

Is nothing serious though. Just a tweak, by the sounds of it. He's hardly a write-off because of a groin strain. Happens to them all.

He'd been doing well with the injuries thing of late. This is only a minor setback. Arbeloa's had a few tweaks lately as well. Muscle pulls, strains. Comes from tiredness more than anything.

Great shame.  I'm inclined to agree.  Happens a bit too often.  He is however by a million miles our best left back.
He's a manipulative bastard. Another deliberate attempt to put pressure on people in the game, which he thinks he'll get away with because of his "standing" in the game and his fucking knighthood.

That doesn't change the fact that he's more injured than most people. Our left back position will continue to cause us problems if our number one choice for the spot is constantly missing games because of injuries "they all get".

But you're right. Maybe he's not injury prone, but rather bad luck-prone. It doesn't really change much though.

Well, luck can change. I, for one, am in agreement with you. I do think that he does get injured more than most, but he hasn't for awhile - and this is a very common injury, so its not like he has "slipped back into old ways" or anything like that. He picked up a pull. Its no big deal. He seemed to have turned a corner. This is just a minor setback. It certainly does not warrant the "get rid" comment that was posted earlier on tonight.

Where does it say this? Is it confirmed? Because as I said in other thread, Rafa said he is not even being assessed until Thursday at Melwood. It's only Wednesday, unless I slept for a day. The Post was hasty and went for Worst Case Scenario. It was also printed online last night about an hour after the match finished when they could not possibly have known.

That said, the season is almost over anyway so, who knows? Two months, though, when an injury has not even been assessed, that's a pretty "long" guess.

Bad, bad news.

I don't want to see Riise in a Red shirt again. Not because of what happened last night. But because of what happens every time he plays for us. The left hand side of the field becomes fallow when Riise's there. Nothing productive ever happens. The thought of us going down meekly at the Bridge for want of attacking flair on the left would be too much to bear.

Therefore it's time for Rafa to take an uncharacteristic risk and play Insua. Just throw him in like we did Rob Jones on his debut at the Toilet. Tell him to relax and express himself and the other lads will look after him. Tell him he'll be playing for Argentina next season and he has to get used to these big games. Tell him to cause Chelsea's weak left-hand side problems.

Chelsea won't know what's hit them.

He may well go with Arbeloa there and bring in Finnan or Sami.

Well I think that's more likely, though if Babel plays that's two fellas on the left who don't have much of a left foot. Not completely one-legged as with poor old Riise, but still not a great situation.

he's been very good recently, showing good form and ending the questions of needing a new left back
if he's out for the season there will probably quite a lot of defensive desruption which is never a good thing, i would go for

i like aurelio, his pace is good his possession and decision making is good. we're quite screwed. as someone said, we have no left footers in the team. no balance.

Regarding our Left-Back position. This morning I woke to the news that Liverpool are trying to transfer Joleon Lescott from Everton. This was from a source inside Everton, but can not be reliable, however usually one out of three comments materialise. Then One (SCUM) newspaper reported via Setanta Sports News that Dossena is on his way out, Roma or Juventus bound. Being the pessimistic that I am I see this in two ways;

One, NOTW, is reporting more Lies, or

Two, Evertonians are unhappy with his performances this season and are starting a rumour to see if they can receive funds due to his performances from last season.

From a personal point of view I do not believe the rumours to be true, however if they were, then I would like to see Lescott in a red shirt however not for an "over the top" price, remember the Gareth Barry saga.

Anyway thought I would let you all know what I heard and will be looking forward to your points of view on the matter.

(If any one can put this as a topic it would help to hear other Reds views on the matter)

I must admit i've never been Aurelio's biggest fan but he's winning me over this season. His lack of getting injured (kiss of death) seems to have settled him down this year and he's looked pretty solid and seems to be enjoying his partnership with Reira down the left like Arbeloa is down the right with Kuyt.

Long may it continue

but he is slowly winning me over, but he has to start putting good balls in the box consitently instead of hitting the first man in the box or blinding a child in the paddock!

and how dare someone say bad things about JAR someone forgetting who put the ball in the box for stevie g to start the greatest comeback of all time!!! :no

Thats not what i meant. At all. What good is he if he's only fit for one half of a season?

This is why we have him and Dossena, no?

I can't think of another Premier League club that has two such evenly matched players competing for the left back position. Even at Chelsea where they're arguably stronger than us in that position, they have a definite preferred starter. If Ashley Cole is fit, he plays. you couldn't say the same for us and Fabio.

Granted, I think Dossena has still to settle in... but I see enough to suggest he'll be a good buy. The best part of it is, he and Aurelio have distinctly different qualities; Dossena carries a ball forwards well, while Aurelio is the more composed/accomplished distributor. There's a tactical cause for using their individual talents against different oppositions.

Aurelio has won me over. Riise has always been my favorite (still is), but he completely overshadowed him when he wasn't injured. He had some terrific matches this season. His passing has been great and i remember Rafa said he's a better passer than Xabi when he first signed for us..

Quality player
Aquilani is the worst signing of all time. Fact
