Changed my mind on this 180 degrees.

Don't care about it at all, we can play Harvey Elliot, Ki-ana Hoever, whoever really. As long as our main players are fit for the league campaign, if the 1st team squad travel let them have a mini-warm weather retreat there instead of playing.

I think the fanbase would agree - unfortunately the players, Especially the Brazilians, will really want to play and win. They'll be legends as Copa, Champions League and World Club champions. You'd be amazed how much they covert this Trophy in South America.

I don’t know, I think there’s a split, some do some don’t. Personally I’d like to see us win it, and I don’t think there’s much chance of the kids playing. I’d expect some rotation across the two games but that will be of the main first team group

a split is fair but ive never really understood any fan wishing us out of any competition to be honest, i include the league cup in that

IF there was a guarantee we'd win a big one by not playing in it then i think it would be easier to understand but you cant guarantee that so my view is go and win what we can.

The semi final will see some rotation, theres no doubt. the calibre of opposition should allow that and a ll the big guns will be on the bench at worst anyway

the final will be a big match, most likely versus River Plate or the Brazilian team that comes through (what i mean is the South American team will prevail to the final in Qatar youd assume)

We miss one match (west Ham) to play in it. We may miss a league cup match but thats a fringe team that plays anyway so re arranging that wont cause us too much angst.

The flight time is minimal really and most importantly we can call ourselves world champions if we win it and we put another pot in the cabinet.

People can have their views on Qatar, fair do's, but from a football point of view, we've qualified as European Champions, we've never won it before - go and get the job done and worry about the league afterwards.

edit - on top of this there was loads moaning about the Super Cup too. Didnt do us any harm at all did it?

Yep, pretty much how I see it.

I know it doesn’t have the real prestige as it’s a strange competition in that most of the clubs aren’t of the calibre we face in even the group stages of the CL. That said I like the idea of being the World Club Champions officially and having seen us beaten a couple of times previously it would be good to win something for the first time in our history.

River Plate v Flamengo in the Copa Libertadores final, that a one off match now, that's 23rd November

AFC Champions League final, Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia v Urawa Red Diamonds of Japan, that's over 2 legs, the second leg in Japan on the 24th November

Who would be the harder team for us to try and beat? River Plate or Flamengo? Dont watch much of South American football lately.

River Plates CL record is excellent. Although they qualified for the tournament last year and didn’t make the final, on penalties. Two of the last three South American clubs have failed on that front.

No Idea what the playing conditions will be like and they could be a factor but otherwise the idea of Liverpool playing River Plate, the Champions of Europe playing the Champions of the Americas is thrilling.

Damn right, I’m getting excited for this.  This is the only way these fixtures can exist as meaningful games, the idea of us against River or Flamengo is sensational.  Then the big gold badge on the shirt, it must happen.

It’s a pity Esperance landed in the other side of the draw, they love a mad, inscrutable tifo in Tunisia.

So were the QF dates not available before? If they were then why even play the Arsenal fixture in the first place?

In the days of endless replays you had games from different rounds being played on the same day. Hopefully they will find a solution. In my view any solution should not involve playing a Liverpool select XI (like it’s a friendly) because the first team squad and presumably at least some of the youngsters from tonight are in Qatar.

Klopp's just getting in early to apply maximum pressure to ensure we get the best available option here.

It's really a nothing story with the flexibility to delay league games.

Klopp threatened to pull-out if the fixture schedule is shit for us. Are we even allowed to pull-out? What would the punishment be? Probably, something like disqualification for next year too. We'd like that, but our Origi's won't like it.
