Server 10 miles away, is this just BT being shit?

As I say, I don't know enough about this stuff, the relationship between download/upload speed, ping, line attenuation, sync speed and the rest. I just saw results from others for servers around 50 miles away and they were getting pings of 10-20 ms. No idea how important that is in the general scheme of things $:-\$

Just got BT Infinity put on.

Real world terms - BT Broadband avg d/l speed - 900kb/s, Infinity - was still climbing at 2.8 mb/s when my file finished downloading.

And. It's the same price.

Just this moment had BT infinity installed. Used to have only 700k download and 300k upload on bt Broadband before. Now........

with talk talk.....their test shows 46mb and this test shows 3/5/6 mb done several times!....con or what?
i reckon talk talk takes the highest score over the test whearas this test takes an average....just wrong

46Mb or 4.6Mb?

If its the first there is deffo something wrong with the test.
I don;t know of any TT services that would give you 46Mb.

I get around 3.5Mb

BT Broadband offer upto 20Mb and I am right near the exchange so I should hit decent speeds but I don't fancy switching incase they throttle me to death using News Servers

Isn't 100 mb broadband the ususual stuff in other countries think we in the u.k are lagging behind we'll get their 1 day though.
