I've pretty much avoided the DCU but will probably give the Snyder Cut a look.  It could probably go in the hannoy thread, but it has to irk when you ask a director to finish your film and he decides to reshoot the whole fucking thing.  I'm sure Richard Donner can relate.

It sounds like WB has been owned hardcore with all of this, which is hilarious.

It's a teaser for a teaser. The actual film isn't out until late March.
Anyone else being strangely drawn to Dion Dublin's nipples?

I can't say I'm a huge fan of his style, but it can't be any worse than what we got. Probably :P

I thought the CGI looked a bit naff, but it is still just a trailer.  Superdude looked pretty badass though :)

Cautiously optimistic about this... I don't get all the hate around it. It's easy, if you don't like Snyder or the DC movies,  you don't have to watch them. if its shit, its shit, if its good, its good. Like with a lot of things these days people get some weird self satisfaction to shit on things they claim to not even be interested in. Some people will like it, some won't. That's life. This looks like a far superior version to the one that was released a few years ago, in my opinion. As far the trailer being released without any execs looking at it? with reference to BVS, Suicide Squad and Original Justice League movie, it might be a good thing that they are not involved.

Why would it piss anyone off? :D

Even Marvel fan boys must be laughing at the prospect. Even if its ace (which is MASSIVELY unlikely since Zac Snyder isnt some god of directing or editing), its still a movie which is over three years old. Since the originals release Marvel have released two similar 'team' superhero movies, one of which is the highest grossing movie ever and the other the 5th highest ever. The only people it'd piss off would surely be the studio for the fact it'd taken over another three years to get something remotely resembling a decent superhero movie!

I waitied to watch BvS until the ultimate edition came out as the cinema version was a hacked down edit, similar to Justice League, and I actually quite liked it. Whether the new JL is good or bad at least we get to see the original intent instead of the "focus group friendly" version or whatever the hell the cinema version was.

WW84 was on Sky Store and VOD a couple of weeks after it was released on HBO Max. I think most people had watched it through other avenues by then though.

Well the trailer looks better than the for the original version at least.

Whole problem with DC is they tried to fast track their universe and turned it into a spaghetti junction of set ups and loose plot threads. Threw way too much information into the blender and left the lid off.

They were right to fast track it, they were right to let directors have their way (initially) and they were right to go the opposite direction to Marvel. They just got everything else wrong.

Actually no the casting was spot on too.

I disagree on the fast tracking, but I've never had any trouble with the visuals or the casting of the movies. But storytelling should be kept simple, and if you are universe building then patience is the key.

You don't have to duplicate Marvel to achieve a similar result, but it's foolish not to draw inspiration from the MCU model. Instead, the DCU comes across to me as trying to (badly) copy the MCU whilst desperately trying to look like they're not.

That's the view of a casual viewer who always preferred DC to Marvel growing up.

Sometimes it takes a few goes for everything to come together.  Marvel have had different Hulks, different F4s, different Spideys and different X-Men, but once they got past that and now they're in an official shared universe, it's looking much better.  They've done really well to tie all the threads together with stuff like Shield and now WandaVision.

I'm a comic book fan, I really want DC to get it right and they're moving in that direction with the JL.  Just wish it wasn't a grimdark CGI-fest and that they'd try and do Superman the way Superman should be represented.  Marvel got it spot on with Cap's characterisation and back story.

With Marvel, having Kevin Feige there as almost the gatekeeper of the MCU has made the difference. He doesn't make films but he has the background to know what needs to be done and brings in the right people to do it. He knows the material and the general view of where it's going

Snyder is almost trying to be Kevin Feige but direct everything at the same time but not have any of the responsibility of being the head of a studio.

A bunch of actors and directors were asked who is the greatest 'film maker' of all time. Most went with the usual likes of Spielberg, Hitchcock, Scorsese etc...

Kevin Smith said Kevin Feige purely because it was 'Film Maker' and not director because of pulling together 10 years of Marvel MCU
