this is the thing, just seems a sideways step and therefore pointless. Another coach who doesn’t know what to do with some younger players.  It’ll be another couple years of not much of anything, and then they fire a shit GM and start again, yay!  But by that point the careers of their 2 top picks will either be flourishing eleswhere (if they are lucky) or will have gone to shit here in NY.

Yea, Rangers for as long as I remember have really relayed on elite goaltending over having generating better offense. That ECF final run didn't feel sustainable and they just keep doubling down on that style it feels.

Sad to see the NHL season go, I have always said no team gets 'lucky' winning this cup, so congrats to Vegas, though they are one of the few teams I don't like  Shame the Panthers did all that heavy lifting and came up short in the final series.

This is what I meant about matchups. You could swear there was no stopping the Panthers until this series started, and yet their play suited Vegas (some very soft calls by the umps which lead to them taking repeated leads didn't help), and so here we are.

Now it's just Baseball until autumn kicks in with other sports and we go again.

Michkov much more than Bonk. The Flyers just have some bad process that didn't all go away when they finally got Chuck Fletcher to fuck off. His long-time assistant GM from Minnesota and the Flyers is still there, and he runs the draft, and he fucking sucks. Tortorella is obviously a massive problem. But Briere's willingness to even take Michkov is the best thing that has happened to the franchise in 13 years. So we'll see.

yeah for sure, I’m hoping a lot will be making a choice now about wearing a neck guard. I’d be thinking the UK ice hockey association would consider it a rule moving forward.

NHL Skaters dont even after having two incidents with it before(one was goalie and other was skater) Goalies have to it. Both player survived though. The Skaters ended up skating to the bench to basically fall into the trainer arm to apply pressure. Goalie was in the 80s with quick response an lucky the exit was that side of the rink.
You can watch both incidents on youtube(if you so choose too).

Maybe I just not sure how the neck guard works for a skater, maybe they thought is would restrict head movement too much. NHL players wont even the cage or more face protection with some of the pucks to the face at times.
Sock stuff seems easy adjustment and good.
Malarchuk one is not for one to watch if you cant handle gruesome injuries.
It would be good if they did not sure I expect a change.

Been mandated in the UK now too starting end of the year, but encouraged from now (I think they anticpate it may be hard to actually get hold of the neck guards due to demand for a bit).

I’ve not watched the incident, but I’ve just seen there’s been an arrest for manslaughter. I presume for the opposing player. Reading the meaning of Manslaughter there doesn’t have to be intent but this seems harsh surely it was an accident?

Manslaughter by gross negligence is something he could be charged with - IF he is charged.

Be terrible really, I’m sure he’s destroyed as it is, and it was an accident. Although sadly, cos of how it looked (rather unnatural body positioning), and because of his skin colour it’s become something else. As for what happened, a very basic explanation is that it looked like he got clipped by another player, which threw him off balance, and his leg went flying out behind him and caught Adam Johnson.

Such a sad case. I love the EIHL, have bene following the giants the last couple of years and been to about 30 games. Never seen the likes of the incident regarding Johnson. The twitterati have petgrave condemned. His previous disciplinary history isn't good which has gave a lot of fuel to the fire.
I fear for the future of the league if the foreign players see someone getting prosecuted for an accident that could happen any of them.

What has his skin colour got to do with it?!

From watching it, I can see how there’s a case of manslaughter to be answered to and investigated. He appears to throw his leg in the air unnaturally and it doesn’t look like the other contact accounts for that movement.

Apparently the police took the decision after consulting with hockey experts in their investigations.

Must be bad for the Blackhawks to do this though considering what they’ve tolerated over the years 

McDavid has 2 more years on his deal after this season I think. And yes, wouldn’t be at all surprised if he’ll be thinking of life away from the Oilers at that point!
They have picked up a bit since the coaching change though, and he for sure is scoring again.
