Liverpool FC Forum / Re: The Title Race 2023/24- Jurgen's Last Dance

It's all gone a bit Roy Evans.  Oh well, we lost a lot of experience last summer but it was fun while it lasted.  For years I didn't expect to even be in a title race never mind actually winning the thing when we did!  Cheers Jurgen.

What's is Roy Evans cockney slang for?

With regard to the manager persuading players to join, I think the recruitment team will target players with potential rather than best in class which will cost a fortune.
Also, Klopp was a name but he wasn't the be-all and end-all with regard to getting players to join. Dom said it was more than Klopp that made him join and Caicedo went to Chelsea.

Apparently, Slot's training methods and style of play reduce injuries. Let's hope this is correct.

It’s literally nothing.

What about when KDB mouthed off at Pep? Was that even news ? I doubt it but then we are massive.

Understat had it at 0.27.

That's a very decent chance that a decent striker should be scoring. Mac isn't particularly good in the air. The emphasis was on a "decent striker". 0.27 looks at the average player and not just strikers.

Like I said,  a Michail Antonio or a Jarrod Bowen buries that and they are not world beaters.

It's strikers who end up getting the majority of 0.27 chances (strikers shoot more) so the 0.27 number is calculated mostly on the basis of how strikers have finished from that position.

It's almost as if that goal had been coming for five minutes before-hand, via approaches we've seen repeated many times this season or something.

This was awful, just so slow and ponderous in possession. Effectively waiting to hand it over.

At the moment I'd expect Trent to be 3rd or 4th choice as a dual pivot 6. And that's without buying a proper athlete as a DM.

We became a lot stronger when Klopp convinced Van Dijk to turn down City and Chelsea and sign for us. Do you honestly think that happens without Klopp meeting up with Van Dijk.

Do you think the new manager won't meet with prospective new players and have to/try to convince them to join us?

Liverpool FC Forum / Re: Darwin Núñez (Darwin Gabriel Núñez Ribeiro)
« Last post by Knight on Today at 06:52:55 am »
What does this mean in real terms?

Darwin this season is averaging 22 passes a game, completing 71%. He is playing 2.2 progressive passes per game and is at 0.23 xA.

Feyenoord's primary number 9 is averaging 15 passes a game with a 67% completion rate. He is playing 1.4 progressive passes per game and is at 0.13 xA.

He just blasted straight past this as if it didn't expose his whole argument as total nonsense. Shameless.
