My thought about playing him against City is that he will be at least as good as about half of the people who have played in our defence this season so far. This is massively offset though in terms of risk factor by how much him freeing up a midfielder strengthens our midfield, and to some percent, attacking ball supply. He is also fractionally less vulnerable in defence because his being in place allows a defensive mid to be in front of him. It also means that we have a slightly stronger bench for the 14 man game we are going to play against a Pep team.
