How that pen wasn’t given I’ll never know, what’s the point in VAR when the people using it are incompetent?

Is it just me or could Adrian have done better for their goal?

change matip to kane, rashford or vardy. That be 100% nailed on penalty.

mane is something else isn't he. and the assist was bobby's first pass?

highlight for me was 47th min though. Mane tracking back and VVD shepherding almiron to the touchline. Fab joins in the fun and nicks the ball. This TEAM is absolutely relentless.

Absolutely.
I very much agree.  The bluster from Steve McManaman about how good a strike it supposedly was has taken away the attention on how slow to react Adrian was.

what is the point of VAR if a guy gets wrestled to the ground and does not get a pen? two hands around him and around the neck as well. Did well getting back into the game after a sluggish start. Very good goals taken by Mane. Just we add to goal or two more just to make it easier.

We need to sort out our back line a bit. Robertson was playing them onside for their goal. I'm not saying that he was a fault. It happened later and I think the linesman may have got it wrong.

I don't like seeing our keepers going for the ball with the "wrong" hand. It was a good shot but Adrian should have been using his left hand.

Super goal from Mane. He is some player.

Second goal was Firmino's. He won the ball on the halfway line and then plays a great ball to Mane.

Let's put 3 past them in the 2nd half.

You must be really incompetent at your job if you can't see Matip being pulled like that.

Glad we kept our cool and scored those 2 goals before the break.

How we didn't get a penalty for that I just don't understand it was a wretched decision. Also how good is it seeing Chamberlain accelerating out with the ball and showing such ease of speed after all he's been through? That was one of the highlights of the game so far for me.

VAR in England is a fucking joke. It's completely useless when the FA are too fucking scared to question the referee's authority. What good is it for then? We've had a clear pen denied. Fuck that. Either you implement something and do it the right way or don't do it at all.

Our first 25 or so minutes were very sluggish. Our passing was poor and our crossing even poorer. That clear pen that wasn't given was the kick in the bollocks we needed, and we should be winning this now. Firmino is absolute world class as well.
VAR Covering Marriners considerably large arse

And that pathetic excuse Walton covering for him as well saying it was a “subjective decision” and so not actionable by var.
I would say, given the way some referees behave, 90% of their decisions are “subjective”.

In control. We need that third goal. Not because I think Newcastle will take charge of the game, but because I want more than a lucky bounce or set piece to separate the score. Lovely stuff from Mane for the first and Firmino for the second.

Think it'll end 4-2 to us, although I think we can stop them from scoring a second.

VAR might be here, but the same problems will persist when you get officials as shit as they are in this league. Absolute fucking jokers.

Speaking of jokers, Macca fairly shut his chirpy gob up when we went in front. Went silent for about 10 minutes and his tone was a downer.
Oh he's still very much a c*nt this season.

I expect him to pop into TAW Towers for an interview very soon.

wonder what their reasoning was for not overturning the Matip foul? Aside from being useless twats. We started off slow which is understandable given the international break, delighted with our reaction.

Interesting how Newcastle were static as statues for big chunks of the game  barely moving at all when we had the ball. Then they actually started playing a bit around the 38th minute and we immediately got in behind and scored our second 😂

It was clear and obvious though.
It was a clear pen, but not a clear error by the ref.
It's easy see it was a pen on the replay, but the ref just sees it in real time, and he can just say he didn't think it was a pen. The PL implementation makes a distinction there.

Why do refs just not admit they're wrong. Mario quite clearly fouled, loads of other examples in other games. Fab is unreal, the amount of balls he gets back

Just wish the atmosphere was a bit better but it's hard at the half 12 kick offs

Oh and it's time for the ref to start giving freekicks for all the pulling especially on Salah. A pull puts you off balance and then the ball tends to get away for you allowing the 2nd player to get the tackle in. Yes play in for a couple of seconds but if there's no advantage then call the play back for the freekick.

The reason they're doing it this way is to appease people who don't like VAR, by not over ruling the ref all the time.

Agree, Matip has been very good as has been Fabinho for putting pressure on them when they have the ball.
