Got better as the halfwore on but the defence wasn't getting any cover from the midfield. Milner looks his age tonight and alongside Henderson offering very little.
I think we can get away with Henderson or Milner but not both but that's what our injury crisis does of course
However if something serious happens to them I will eat my own cock.

They have a man spare all over the pitch, allows them to leave 2 and sometimes three right on our defensive line. One ball in behind is killing us.

Criminal to have this as our second string midfield. You won't win a title with that.

Yep, there are times he can't be arsed to defend and constantly gets defended for it like it's some highly intelligent move.

It's not and he's costing us points.

Been doing it ever since he got back from injury. Sleepwalks through games now.

We are absolutely atrocious. I have no idea what Firmino is doing. Milner has no business starting a football game in the year of our lord 2022. Less said about the defence the better.

Firmino is doing what I've said he's been doing for the past two years. And I keep getting pelted for it. It's taken this scoreline against the worst Utd team ever for some on here to finally open their eyes. Or maybe not even then. :(

I didn’t want to moan about the lack of investment but we are paying for it now, you had to be blind to see we were short in midfield, ox and keita are a waste of time, Milner is 37, Henderson 31, Thiago 30 is a fucking joke we have a net spend of £5mil, that first half was embarrassing, but as soon as I saw that team sheet I was worried.

Not freshening the midfield up with a new signing is a very very poor decision.

There's still time to sort it out. Not taking any action though will be killer.

This was the fear. We would concede first and they have something to hold onto.

But the biggest fear? We don’t even look like creating a real goalscoring opportunity.

How do the Liverpool of the last 2.5 PL games turn this around in 45mins? It’s hard to see it. Need a big, big push and a huge kick up the arse - again, far too casual. Casual and leggy is some combo!

We really look like a team on holidays. I mean, the amount of injuries is really hurting us but that still doesnt excuse us looking this poor. We look the far worse team out there, and thats saying a lot against this very shite Manu team. But we really look out of sorts. No confidence, no commitment or desire. We can do a lot better, but I fear the injuries is hampering both the performance and the belief. Games dont win themselves, you have to put in the effort to match the talent and we dont look like that right now.

And pressing us. How the fuck have we become so bad at beating a press or playing a ball when there's the slightest bit of pressure. Everything to feet as well, bar Elliott's one weighted ball at the end

What the fuck was VVD doing for the goal trying to block a shot instead of closing down and pushing right up. Trent was United's best player the first 20 kept giving the ball away which left us wide open to counters. It lifted the crowd and put us on the back foot

For all the talk of the midfield that defence is an absolute shambles at the moment

Hangover from the champions league loss and finishing 2nd in the league again seems real. Loss of motivation?

Yeah. Loss of motivation, exhaustion - take your pick but it does seem like everyone has collectively dropped a few levels.

The annoying thing is, United aren’t playing that great here. Ignore the Sky hyperbole and they’ve been impressively energetic but that’s it. At our best we demolish them tonight. City would be out of sight already.

We’re making them look good.

Fabinho being out really shows. His absence has a really massive effect on the defense, including the fullbacks.
That's why they've been able to run unopposed at our defense. There's a Fabinho-sized hole in midfield.

Half of two halves - first one absolutely woeful, Virgil is an absolute shadow of himself at the moment, but some very encouraging signs once we rode their storm.

Keep our heads, keep playing side to side and the overload is going to come because they are running on pure adrenaline rather than brains and getting sucked in every time.

De Gea hasn't had a save to make after the worst game of his career. Make it make sense

We are giving goalkeepers the easiest ninety minutes of their lives. The Bournemouth keeper must be resting easy watching this.

If injuries persist in this midfield the season will be a write off. There is absolutely nothing cry arse about that. We need two in for me because if we have to rely on this it's going to be a hiding to nothing, with respect to brilliant servants in Henderson and Milner.

Keep playing as we have the last 20 don’t let them have the ball and get Salah in more dangerous positions and we can turn this round but the players need to come out and boss this or it won’t be fun

Not sure……more chance of a breakaway goal by them I feel. We don’t have a centre forward and they are playing long from goalie…..hard to press them in their box when they are hoofing it.

I’d take a draw right now.

We have a 36 year old midfielder leading our press.. There’s something wrong ffs, how can we ship goals so easily?

We need fucking midfielders.
How on gods earth can our recruitment in midfied be correct when we are still playing Hendo/Milner midfield.
What a shock Keita, Ox and Thiago not available.

No one should be surprised that they've raised their level for this match.  More energy and they're creating the better opportunities.

Damn, we could have really really used Slabhead in this match....

Half time is a bad time to make any declarations, but I can't help feeling this is just going to be one of those seasons.  Hangover from last season.  Fatigue.  Too many injuries.  Everything has been a struggle so far.
