International Anthem also issuing the new Alabaster De Plume LP soon, which will certainly be up there in my top 10/5/1 of the year judging by his phenomenal live shows recently. A truly inspirational musician to me. Both for the excellent music and feeling of camaraderie he encourages among band and audience.

So soon, it's actually today.

It’s brilliant - really different to anything out there

New Father John Misty's is pretty mediocre; I was mostly bored by it, easily his worst album since he started singing by that name. A couple of the tracks I'd describe as 'nice', can't go much higher on the praise than that though in all honesty. Wet Leg's album is ace though on first listen, a big surprise in a good way.

I like the new Wet Leg too. Been really enjoying the new Bodega album, and saw them a couple of times on the UK tour last month. Feels more new wavey/punk funk than the last one, which is a plus in my book.

First album I’ve been looking forward to this year is Fatherson - Normal Fears. Really good listen, a lot lighter and poppier than their previous effort.

I’d recommend their previous album, Sum Of All Your Parts, even if this doesn’t do it for you as that’s a belter

Just listened to the new Bob Vylan album and absolutely loved it. It's a bit lazy comparing them to RATM, but I don't have much else reference when it comes to rap-rock political commentary tackling race, class and systemic injustice.

Can't recommend them enough.

The Kae Tempest is really great though.

Wet Leg are fantastic. The album is just a great collection of great songs. No nonsense.

The scales have rather fallen from my eyes with regard to Yard Act. Couple of good songs but they're too cynical, insincere. That joke isn't funny any more.

Kae Tempest is fucking dreadful. One trick pony.

Warmduscher are winning 2022 so far for me. So wish I'd managed to get tickets to see them.

Wet Leg's album is decent, some questionable lyrics on a few of the songs but they'll go down a storm at festivals this summer.

Agree on Yard Act, gave them a few spins but nothing really stands out, it's all a bit drab.

Spiritualized's new album is a great listen, pretty uplifting stuff. Also enjoyed Kurt Vile's new one, something really comforting about his tunes, just so chilled and effortless.

Will check out Warmduscher.

Going to the War Child benefit thingy on Monday, while it's obviously for a good cause, the only reason I applied for tickets was because Portishead are playing.  It's got to be nearly ten years since they played in the UK.  Idles and Katy J Pearson are also playing (the latter drinks in my local now and again).

The tracks I've listened to from The Smile's album could easily be Radiohead songs (I think a few actually are), I reckon they could of recorded this under the Radiohead moniker and nobody would know the difference, seems a bit odd that a side project sounds so close to their headline gig in my opinion.

I'm not worried about that. The drummer is young and newer and given a chance. Good for him

The narrative around Radiohead is a bit annoying. Everyone rushes to tell you what they don't like about them (not saying you've done that Hedley)

Me? The trivia is trivia. I'm glad there's an album that might carry my own personal mood out tomorrow. Maybe. I'm interested.

Totally willing to trash it if I feel like it enough though haha
