I thought he did really well. He's clearly lacking some match fitness, and I get the impression he's holding back a bit, maybe worried about getting injured again.

He should be starting. He's our best presser right now.

Play him till he drops.
You mean like by half time on Saturday? ;)

Keita was a breath of fresh air in the last few games, and he did really well for a full game, the first since... I can't remember...

He’s a class act. Doesn’t look at his very best physically but he takes care of the ball really well and his anticipation is top notch.

I think the goal just highlights one of the big things you get from him. Absolutely legs it through the middle of the park, asks for a through ball in behind the Wolves defence and gives Harvey the space for the shot. We don't have another midfielder in the squad that understands how beneficial it is to push forward and beyond like that.

He ran out of gas last 20 and it wasn’t an earth shattering performance.. but fuck me watching a midfielder press effectively and deny the opposition space was like a trip back in time

Needs to start at the weekend. I’d start the same midfield that started today against Chelsea. Would be a disaster if both Henderson and Fabinho came right back in.

If him and Thiago are fit enough to play together v Real we have a great chance of going through.

He’s starting to get back to full fitness but there’s still a bit more to go. He’s going to be an important player for the rest of the season.

Couldn't understand him not getting a start before tonight given the performances of others, he offers more than Henderson at the moment. He's probably the closest we've got to Wijnaldum in terms of doing that job.

I'd rather give Keita an hour and Henderson 30 than the other way around.

He’s just so slow now, looks like injuries have robbed him of any acceleration.

I guess you must have missed Harvey's goal, Naby was going like train. The guy had a good game in a much changed side and has hardly played, so your comment is unfair to say the least.

I've been wanting him to start but I think it's probably a case of managing his minutes and also fearing we get him injured again. I say just play him now, we need to

I mean he might be broken physically at this point for all we know. With that said he still did more than Henderson has done in that same position in god knows how long. Won 3 of 6 tackles, recovered half his overall ground duels, even a couple of headers, and moved around and got involved and passed well and aggressively when possible. That might be the last we ever see of him for all we know but if he can keep going then what do we have to lose?

I can see that argument, but his lack of availability has been the one constant that hasn't changed for ages... Can't be a huge factor, albeit is undoubtedly a factor.

Wonder if he’s back in the bench Saturday as he played the full game. Really hope not, love to see that midfield 3 again with Nunez ahead of them. Thiago and Bajcetic probably stood out more tonight but Naby played well and put a shift in

I dont think so. Should have enough rest time wise. Henderson was not even on the bench tonight, granted Trent was not either seemed more damning on Henderson then anything. Trent it felt like your just not playing this game.

I think it should be
Alisson
Milner konate Gomez Robertson
Bacjetic Thiago Keita
Harvey Salah Nunez

Against Chelsea

I know Jones played well tonight but he did so on the left wing so whilst I slightly favour him Over Keita there is no recent evidence of a good midfield display

Trent Fabinho and hendo need to earn their next start

Yea but he played quite a few games last season, I think that was his best season in terms of time missed through injury, of course the drop offs of the likes of Fab is more important but he does add something to attacking/ side midfield options that the rest don’t,

We looked much better at transitioning from defence to attack with him in midfield. The issue is the fact he's always injured obviously. I hope he can stay fit.

Just play him until he drops. Does the basics well and without him our press is non existent. He seems to be the one who does it the most effectively while also being the trigger for it and instructing others around him where to be and when to press.

A fit Naby is still a class act.

That game was so painful. A midfield totally unable to keep the ball.

He was a big part of the run at the end of last season (I think we have four trophies if he starts v Man City, Spurs, and Madrid instead of Henderson).

If anything it’s a sign that if we buy a CM the season is potentially salvageable!

Chelsea at home springs to mind when Henderson was a fish out of water on the left.

Naby Keita has been “fit” for 81 of the last 109 Liverpool games

Played just 2247mins 10489mins

We get caught in in his injury record but Klopp has thrown him into football purgatory on 3 occasions

He started 15 games the great finish to last season

This popped up on my Twitter feed so it may well be wrong. He does seem to have played far fewer minutes than he could have but there’s also the hidden question when he’s on the bench, ‘is he actually fit to play significant minutes in this game?’

He played alright in a fashion but shouldn't be there going forward, we have to be more ruthless. We need someone who gets stuck in and I know he is fragile and scared of more injuries but he pulled out of at least one tackle last night. We have kept  too many players past their best and we need to stop.

What we need is some to presses as a unit, blocks passing lanes and keeps possession. If you’re doing that competently the need to snap into tackles is lessened.

He shouldn't be there going forward because we should sign midfielders who are more likely to be regularly available, but right now there's no doubt he's one of the best three options we've got.
