I'm surprised! I'd only heard good feedback on that one, but the reviews for the new one on here have been mixed.

I thought the stanley st was was shite too. food on both occasions I have been was proppa shit.. apart from the ribs i had for starters.

Not Liverpool but the Wirral. The Marsh Cat

Me and Mrs pheel visited Tues 18-8-09. Had the inclusive lunch Menu £9.95

Starters Fish Cakes and Black pudding spring rolls. Both great but the Fish cakes where awesome, big chunks of fish and prawns. Delicious.

Mains, both had the same "fish duo" may have been duet! anyway,  piece of trout, piece of Mackerel cooked beautifully over a decent portion of Moules Mariniere. Some veg served on the side and we couldn't resist although didn't need a side of "hand cut chips" (delicious).

Washed down with a couple of bottles San Miguel, a fresh orange, and a coffee. £31.

Won Casual dining award for the Wirral last year and that's about right. Basic, but "right" decor and service.  Would go again just for the fishcakes!

What was [roughly] ordered
Starters - Duck Leg in a red wine and apricot sauce, which was spot on. My bird had smoked salmon, asparagus, poached duck egg and hollandaise sauce. Main course we both had Roast lamb with mash potato, brocoli and cauliflower. A pint and glass of wine.

Review of the Food
Food was great. Been here 3 times now, once was awful the last 2 times its been great. Duck was really nice, very big sizes for starters. main course pretty good too.

Review of the venue
Restaurant nice as is the pub bit. nice atmosphere but a hot.

Would you go again?
Yep

Would you recommend it to friends and family?Yep

Any known offers of fixed menus?
I think it has early bird menu and also today a bank holiday and Sundays for around £13.

Price Paid
£29 inc drinks.

Overall score out of 10
9 - only complaint was that the restaurant was roasting and service was a bit sloppy, no salt and pepper on table, a bit slow with drinks.

The food at PanAm on the Albert Dock is stunning, both their day and night menu.  You pay a fair bit, but it's worth every penny and then some.

Went to

    * Restaurant Name: Garretts
    * Location: Bromborough
    * Link to their website http://www.garrettsrestaurant.com/
    * How many went 2
    * What was [roughly] ordered I had leek and potato soup / lamb shoulder and the missus had a Goats cheese tarte / chicken dish. Warm bread served whilst you wait and veg and potato's are dished separately
    * Review of the Food Been a couple of times now and the food was exceptional on both occasions. Kitchen is open and looks really clean.
    * Review of the venue Lovely place, nicely decorated, excellent presentation and staff. Service also spot on. Also nice to have someone playing the Piano or the jazz band in the background, it added to the atmosphere
    * Would you go again? Yes. we are having my lad's christening there in December and they couldn't have been more helpful
    * Would you recommend it to friends and family? Absolutely although not before December as the missus want's to keep it under wraps!
    * Any known offers of fixed menus? £16.95 for a two course meal and half a bottle of wine, think this is on a Sunday and Monday night. We also went on a Thursday to see the Jazz band we have got for the Christening and the deal was £20 per head for 3 courses
    * Price Paid Not a lot - see prices above, paid extra for drinks - Peroni on draft was a bonus
    * Overall score out of 10 9/10 and that's only cos the meat was a little bit undercooked for my liking which is fine with Steak but not with Lamb

Leave Albert Dock in direction of the Pumphouse Inn. Cross the big road in front of you. Continue into Liverpool One, passing the park to your left. Turn left into the two-level mall thing, and walk to the end of it. Turn right onto Church Street. On the next corner to your right is a place your kids will love.

It all depends how much you're wanting to spend to be honest mate. I've never been too fussed on any of the restaurants in the Dock, but probably the Pan Am is the best if you're specifically wanting to stay round there. The Malmaison just further up has got really nice food too. Or if you just cross over the road towards the Royal, the food in Heathcotes is spot on. If it's a cheaper early bird menu on a saturday night you're looking for though, you cant beat Jalons Old Bridewell. If they're a bit younger mate, Jonny Rockets on Bold Street, an authentic American Diner, is absolutely spot on. Not you're usual sawdust filled burgers.

Some decent reviews on here and a load of good dining deals too   :wave

Everything you could possibly want under 1 roof. Chinese, Indian, Thai, Italian, Mexican. You just help yourself. All the food was as you expect from an all you can eat. Italian had pizza and pastas, Mexican had tortilla wraps, spicy chicken and chilli, Chinese had your sweet and sours, black bean sauce etc, crispy duck, sping rolls and the indian had curries mild and hot, samosas nan breads, popadoms etc. All well cooked and tasted alot better than I was expecting for your average all you can eat. Just pile your plate up and enjoy. Puds aren't the best but still when your stuffed with meat and rice you cant complain.

Has the feeling of a place thats just opened. Was very popular and had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. But the wait wasn't too bad. We went upstairs to the bar and got a drink before we were seated. £35?! According to the prices on the website (admittedly not for L1) the most expensive is £13.95 each which would be £27.90 so that'd make your cokes £3.55 each :o

Assume they charge a higher meal price in Liverpool?

Went the Quater up by the phil on sunday.
Been there before but not at lunch time.
4 of us, we shared 2 garlic breads(which i thought were a bit shit actually and too hard)
Then for mains, i had tuna niciose(sp) salad which was gorgeous.
the others had lasagne, and venison burger(i think) all very nice indeed.
Then we had loads of coffees and drinks and cakes to finish off.
4 of us cost was £63 which was ok.
Would recommend it and will be going back again at some point probably.

Only complaint was that it was a bit cold in the place and that we were too close to the next table so got to hear all their rar rarring and general noise :)

    * Restaurant Name:

The Italian Club Fish

    * Location

Top of Bold Street

    * Link to their website

http://www.theitalianclubliverpool.co.uk/ (doesn't show the Club Fish menu just the Italian Club for some reason)

    * How many went

6 big eaters

    * What was [roughly] ordered

Gambas, Fish Cakes and a Crab/Courgette and Lime Risotto for starters then Lasagne, Seafood Spaghetti, Fish and Chips, Fish Pie and Lobster Thermadore.

4 bottles of a very agreeable Pinot Grigio and 6 bottles of Peroni

    * Review of the Food

Really really nice, the risotto was stunning, the fish cakes were massive and the gambas excellent.
The lobster was very tasty and the cheese sauce wasn't to overpowering, the seafood spaghetti was an eye full and was crammed with pretty much about everything that swims in the sea, the lasagne was very nice and the fish and chips lovely and the fish pie was wolfed down. Every plate was a clean one at the end, no greater endorsement than that really.

    * Review of the venue

A nice little place very understated and quite relaxed in there and the service was fine.

    * Would you go again?

Definitely, if you fancy something that’s not going to bloat you and has bags of flavour then this is the Plaice.

* Would you recommend it to friends and family?

Without a doubt

    * Any known offers of fixed menus?

Didn't notice anything

    * Price Paid

About a £180 including a half decent tip

    * Overall score out of 10
