Whether or not the expression relating to TV originates in the States or not has absolutely no bearing on it for me, thinking otherwise is actually a bit xenophobic.
Oh God dont you start too! Theres already enough delicate flowers out there as it is. Cant sneeze 50 feet away from someone without being called sexist. Yes I know it makes no sense, as does a lot of the PC Brigade shite.
Its got fuck all to do with xenophobia. Its the fact the Americans took our language, as such, and have added their own nuances and now we are using things. No, there is no need as we already have words. If there wasnt a word for a bulk of TV or several bulks of TV then fine. Call it Spring, sorry, a season, but there is.
If we want to go down a daft route then i'll play too. To me it shows a lack of respect for your own tongue.
Only when I talk about you playing COD
You see there is only you who think that...no proof. No had you a PUSS4 then we would see in COD WWII, but you have an inferior product
Yes, but a series is a set (or sequence) of TV episodes and a set can contain another set, so it makes sense to me.
Dont know if you are from the UK or age, but for as long as I can remember (early 80's) it has
always been series. When the A Team ended the person used to say, there will be a new series of the A team next summer. That would be series 2/3/4/5 whatever. Since the advent of Netfix and the sheep mentality of people, here and there you see season this and season that. For a forum with members that pull each other up and various things, then Im having my go thanks.
Again, Steve Coogan thins the same. A season is spring, summer, autumn, winter. Simple.
